Nice! I get new music also. The Q8 tapes still sound good for the most part. I have around 300. Most are still in very good condition. I have been able to replace the pads so they track well. They are easy to play. No setting distances or levels for speakers. No sub! Sit where you want in the room, adjust the joystick and you're good.
And I am very impressed by your posts and am envious of your collection.

The Pineapple Thief day here today, resulted in a dozen selected tracks from main studio albums.
Will need to re-visit to check out those acoustic and alternative versions and see how the selections compare.
Also, missed the band live twice, really hope I'll get another chance some time soon.

Ok. I hope I can clear this up. That comment was by me and meant for Clement. Like your posts. Proves my tech savvy point!
Nice! Very funny, too! What i wouldn't give to be able to sit wherever i want in the room and adjust with a joystick! My daughter has been home for the wholly daze, and she has really enjoyed destroying her pops on the PS2 games she used to destroy me on when she was a wee thing! I do get some sympathy listening time with her from the deal: wOw--you just kicked my ASPECT on SSX Tricky, what say we relax with a little surround sound or watch a movie in surround? But what she really covets are those 70s quad mixes of, say, Joni Mitchell and the Carpenters . . . or Joplin's Pearl. And the idea of a joystick–with which she is MOST adept–would probably really appeal to her! Stay Surrounded, Comrade!

Just noticed something else. I have an Arthur Lee autograph. Cannot get why Forever Changes has not been released as surround.

[/QShe would be very bored with this joystick. It's set it and forget it. Lol I have Carpenters and Pearl Q8's. Some of my faves are the Steely Dan's (3), the Jim Croce's (4), Winter Brothers (6). Wish you and she could hear them. In the 70's friends would come on weekends just to hear the new tapes. Had a hookah with five hoses. Everyone would put the goodies they brought in the large metal bowl on top. We lit it up and puffed until the bowl was glowing red. Sat in a circle and dug what was happening with the music. My past is likely similar to yours. Tried about everything. Settled on downers and smoking material. Still light up some.
I'm in northeast Ohio. Where are you?

Had this one. Sold most of my vinyl quad couple years ago. Have two Mike Oldfield's left.
Yeah, I’m going in the other direction...
I never really spent much time with that album until I recently converted it. And I’m liking it pretty well, the Quad sure doesn’t hurt. It’s got more of a San Francisco hippie vibe to it to me, rather than Chicago; but what the hell do I know about Chicago, I’m a West Coast kid :ROFLMAO:
