Stephen Sondheim's COMPANY presented in dizzying Discrete QUAD in UTMOST fidelity by Michael J. Dutton. The Grammy's tribute to Sondheim was certainly gratifying but his brilliant body of work for the Great White Way is embodied in this magnificent Original Cast Recording!

This is such an amazing release. That fantastic cast coming from every corner. Bobby! Bobby baby! Bobby bubbi!

The movie is an amazing document of the recording process and well worth a look for anybody, not just Broadway musical fans.
My favorite bit is sweet Beth Howland, who's remembered only for her wallflower diner waitress sitcom role, rehearsing and nailing the patter song.

With 68 words sung in a total of 11 seconds, "Getting Married Today" is notable for being one of the fastest songs in Broadway history.

The moment that gets me every time is in the title song when the ensemble finishes singing the opening and solo Dean Jones blasts his gigantic voice out of the fronts ("Phone rings, door chimes ..."). Chills!

It's a bold '70s quad mix with big Broadway voices in every corner all at once. I love the show and I adore this release. Top 5 surround release for me easily. Sometimes Sondheim feels like work to me but this is a very accessible set of tunes.

That's one of the few from DV I didn't buy. Should I?
Put it on a standby list to make an even number if we ever get any more Dutton rock releases.
Not a lot of bread to risk for a guy like you with eclectic taste in all genres of music.

Every take recorded live on a Sunday in the big CBS recording studio in NYC.
Pit orchestra and cast on their one day off to get the Original Cast Soundtrack done.
Likely got paid union scale and glad to get it, to be able to make this record and share it forever.
