I got very excited there for a moment. I thought you were referring the band called Spirit!

Haha, just in case anyone else gets confused, I was referring to the Earth, Wind & Fire album "Spirit".
AFAIK, the band Spirit never had any of their albums released in Quadraphonic, so that wouldn't be much of a request anyway! ;)

AFAIK you're correct - but I was hoping there was an unreleased version hanging around in a vault somewhere that was discovered...

Hee! Notice I'm listening to the Edsel EDSX 3010 version. The region free version...that is NOT region free. Don't ask me to explain....you'd have to see the STeve Miller threads to understand...

Pink Floyd - "Learning to Fly"

I saw, on another forum, that someone mentioned that on the Pulse DVD that the bonus music video for "Learning to Fly" had a 5.1 mix. I didn't remember anything about this so I pulled my copy out to investigate. It's quite strange. For the first two verses there is absolutely nothing in the rear speakers. Then as the final verse is about to kick in, it opens up into surround. Anyone else notice this?

Yes, I noticed that from the very first time I ever played it in surround from the DVD.
Essentially what they did with that mix was equate the ground with stereo and the sky with surround sound, so once the protagonist takes off and is up in the air, the sound spreads out to a full panorama. Yes it is very gimmicky, but once it does open up, I remember it being a very nice and discrete mix. :)

Geez you guys, now I have to go pull that out and hear for myself....;)

That actually sounded pretty good! I like the onstage footage of DG on this video from 1987. I'm used to seeing either pictures of him from the last 10 years or so, or when he was younger, early to mid 70s.

Just received this today:

Earth, Wind & Fire - Open Our Eyes (AF SACD)

I'm really digging this at first listen. :)

Can't wait to receive the other. I hope AF releases all of their Quads.

I received Head To The Sky last week, and I think that is the best sounding EWF thus far! Great mastering. I would recommend.

I certainly hope that AF can release a Quadraphonic SACD of "Spirit". There shouldn't be any problems licensing that one (AFAIK). :)

The original Quad LP lacks bass, AF could definitely improve on that!

A little out of place, but I"m too tired to locate the right thread....

So, I absolutely LOVE Smiley Smile - Beach Boys. And, this Specweb mix really does sound very good. I can't get enough...
