King Crimson-In The Court Of The Crimson King DVD-A[I haven't heard this in hi res since I gave up my Oppo dvd player some years ago]

Alice Cooper - Muscle Of Love Quad

Are you kidding me? This is an amazing disc.....if you'all don't own this...what choo waiting for?

I love that disc two .It has a rather very unique quad mix I think. Almost Elliot Scheiner style , but I believe it was done up by Bob Ezrin (I think anyways ?)

If you like good quad mixes, you should pick it up, well worth it.

@Gene
Got those 2 discs friday, thanks buddy .(y)

The Moody Blues-In Search Of The Lost Chord[SACD]

I love that track "Legend Of A Mind" dedicated to Tim Leary.

But this a stereo only SACD , I think anyways , unless you got some tricks up your sleeve-Hwkn :D

I have the Moodies "Isle Of Wight" concert and "Legend" is on it. Kinda ambient surround though, but it is from the year 1970 afterall.

It definitely is one of the more underrated AF quad discs. I have the CD-4 as well and love how AF integrated the elaborate cardboard packaging into their slipcover.

Mix is solid- it's got the all-channel vocals which I dont love but plenty of discrete action. Haven't played it in a while but I remember really enjoying the track "Working Up A Sweat".

Hopefully someone will put out the "Billion Dollar Babies" quad one day. That album is far superior and the old DVD-A issue was kind of a joke. Also like "Aqualung" the quad mix has some alternate parts and major differences vs the stereo.

The other nite I had a Mac Attack, so....

Altough the Silverline BBC is highly questionable for surround.....One song really stands apart from the rest . "Albatross" is highly recommended. This DVDA is super long...... almost 110 minutes.

I do indeed agree.

That quad mix and sound were better on Billion $ Babies . Love that one tune in quad "Generation Landside" which ends in a crashing guitar (duel guitars) solo. Disappointed ending on that DVDA as it's just a slow fade out, or maybe too quick of a fade out.

Roxy Music -The Thrill of it All.

disc 2 DVD DTS

Only the four tunes from "The High Road"concert are in dts, plus 3 promo video tracks . But jeezeluoize those tracks are almost all available on Avalon, the SACD (non live).

I don't know why they didn't continue at some point to release the full concert of "The High Road ". Had it on vhs and it was pretty good .

XTC - Black Sea (BRA) well, I have to admit it, I'm a bit disappointed. After all the enthusiastic reviews (2nd on the hi Res poll) I was expecting something like the second coming, which it ain't. Don't get me wrong, the mix is ok, but cannot hold a candle to eg. the Gentle Giant remixes or most of Wilson's Yes remixes.
Big Brother & The Holding Company - Cheap Thrills (SACD) fidelity is not too good, but the surround mix ain't bad...

R.E.M. Automatic For the People Dolby ATMOS (again). In my previously rushed preview I didn’t notice somebody unplugged dad’s wireless receiver for the rear speakers! Properly blissed out now.

The Moody Blues Days of Future Passed DTS 5.1; this still sounds so good to me. The mix is quite good (I bumped the surrounds up just a bit) and the low end is warm. The vocals are crystal clear, just a pleasant listen overall. Rest In Peace Mr. Thomas.

Loggins and Messina (Same) Audio Fidelity SACD (88.2 kHz PCM); I believe this might be the first truly proper start to finish listen for me with this disc. Even though all my speakers are matched i bought them over time and it seems only recently that they play so well together.

Magenta - Chaos From the Stage DVD concert Video, great Music.

Now on to Mike Oldfield - Tubular Bells 2009 5.1 DVDV from my newly delivered brand new Ultimate Edition from Amazon for an amazing £32 including Postage:banana: couldn't resist that:)(y)(y)(y)

If you are looking for Sade in discrete surround sound try this one: Sade - Life Promise Pride Love. If I remember correct it uses the rears pretty well.

I received it today and it's a big improvement over the version I had...thanks(y)...I just don't watch the video(it's poor DVD quality)and treat it like a audio only disc....

I got into a bit of a discussion on the SH forums about whether the top European or American orchestras in the 1970s were superior (I personally find the argument that orchestras like Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, etc weren't at least a match for the top European orchestras to be the equivalent of burying one's head in the sand, but whichever. This led me to do something radical - listen to some music. In musical merits both performances are top notch (Kubelik's cycle is nine performances by nine orchestras, unique among Beethoven symphony cycles). But don't expect much in terms of surround beyond very basic ambience - these aren't like the recordings Thomas Mowrey was making with the same orchestra.
