This looks great! How's the sound quality?

I broke down and bought the Hemisphere set as it was reduced to about $200 on Black Friday(including courier freight):eek:Been listening to it and for the most part it sounds like a upmix:mad:But there are som few and far between discreete moments, mostly in the last song.
But on a positive note, the fidelity is very good and it's crankable(y)

I've never ordered anything through discogs before (although I use it for research - a little hesitant of the unknown!) I would appreciate any "advice" or "tips" for ordering there, thanks.

It's a great place to buy discs....just concentrate on the seller's reputation...and as a general rule(at any of these spots)don't buy products from Russia...there is a distinct chance they are "fakes"...and if you have any questions for the seller...be sure to ask...they are usually very easy to deal with...

Thanks Clint.

Completely agree with Clint and sjcorne comments.
Like you, I was initially unsure about Discogs but after thoroughly checking sellers previous sales comments and contacting them where necessary, I've genuinely had little problems with my orders...and I've made quite a few!!
I almost bought an item from Russia but luckily the alarm bells were ringing and didn't pursue it.
You will find that quite a few of the sellers are US based so that should make life easier for you.

For vinyl especially Discogs is practically unbeatable- can't tell you how many quad LPs I've snatched up there for under $10. The "Collection" feature is also a great way to keep track of what you've got.

Much appreciated sjcorne; I only have about a half dozen quad LPs (I need a cartridge for my turntable.) I may be a buyer for more of these in the future, because I'm definitely all in on the upcoming "Involve Surround Master" when it hits:smokin

I recently bought a CD from Poland on discogs...no problem at all and received in pristine condition(y)

I've ordered quite a few rare SACDs from countries like Poland, Portugal, and many other foreign countries through ebay; It's great to see the photos, something seriously lacking on Amazon!

Always liked this record but the surround (I believe this one is the classic quad mix) is pretty great on this one

It is indeed the quad mix. It's been reissued quite a few times now, originally by Sony as a single layer SACD and more recently by Analogue Productions as a hybrid. Interestingly enough the old Sony disc has fake center and sub channels added, but the new AP version does not.

Herbie's Sextant is an even wilder quad, maybe one day someone will get that out on SACD.
