Brett, can you explain this a little bit, looks interesting, jazz, latin? Like a Hiromi but percussion?

It's not Jazz or Latin. It's modern, experimental classical music, called minimalism. The music involves repeating the same chords with subtle variations. Kuniko has 4 multichannel SACDs on the Linn label, including "Drumming" whose opening track is a long 25-minute drumming session. The rest of the album gets better IMO, as she plays her usual marimba & other instruments. Her other recordings, such as "Cantus" https://www.hraudio.net/showmusic.php?title=8811#reviews , "Xenakis" https://www.hraudio.net/showmusic.php?title=10549#reviews , and "Kuniko Plays Reich" https://www.hraudio.net/showmusic.php?title=7099#reviews are also good if you like this kind of music .

Some songs with nice discrete mixes.

This Quad Reel transfer is so much more balanced and satisfying in terms of surround mix than the SACD 5.1 mix... sure, you get some tape hiss, but man, Procession is just a surround extravaganza. "Procession/The Story In Your Eyes" just got promoted to my greatest surround demo songs mix.

So you have a tape deck also? Your awesome.

Had to spin my custom best of. Strangely, sounds much better than on my summer set-up, I'm hearing more discrete elements and getting much less low-end fatique, plus songs added from the Music Bank DVD (Sea Of Sorrow, What The Hell Have I, Down In A Hole and Get Born Again) help too, as they're mastered less heavy-handed. While AIC can certainly rock, here I definitely prefer their mellower side. I guess I need to check out the MTV Unplugged as well... And then probably compile a grunge best of:)

For some reason, have never found that one. Maybe didn't look hard enough? Good mix?
It was released only as a part of Ten reissue in 2009. Can't really remember the mix, but definitely not a dud. And oh, there was a really good mix of Oceans, but that was probably a standalone video? OK, gonna spin PJ next.

The Flaming Lips meets The Partridge Family is an apt description! With a sprinkling of Sgt Pepper. I kinda dig it.
Great mix.

Mike, I almost never heard a disc from DTS Entertainment I didn't like. What an eclectic output! I wish they had continued their Capitol/Blue Note releases in superb 5.1.
