In the interest of FULL DISCLOSURE my copy froze [not before making weird sounds] at CUT # 3 and my older OPPO Froze and I had to reboot it to remove the disc.

I just PMed beerking to cancel his order @ Discogs as doubtful Concord ever repressed this disc. What a fantastic discrete disc ...... except for the FREEZE!

OMFGID...!!!!
put it in the microwave on defrost!
that should stop it freezing your Oppo!

what happens if you skip track 3?
does 4 play ok?

I'm going to try playing the stereo SACD tracks later tonight on my Marantz SA 11S3 and see if the RBCD layer is OK as well. It makes these godawful sounds when playing track 3 and then FREEZES. I thought it was just my disc but according to Steelydave, it was a bad batch and was most probably never repressed.

Will report back, Chief.

edit: SACD mch: Tracks 1 & 2 play flawlessly......avoid track 3 ..... now on track 4 .... flawless and oh, so discrete and lovely.....the way you like it Adam.:QQlove

oh dear.. i don't remember anything like this happening on my copy.. the duff (not McDuff) discs tend to stick out! look forward to your report :hi

I just added some info Adam to my original post ....... Do us all a favor and try your copy ..... Track # 3 is THE culprit. A Bad Slice of HAM!

will certainly check it tomorrow, my honey roast Ralphie! :p
i'm eager to try it and i'd gladly do it NOW but my Concords are up on a high shelf for which i need a stepladder and i really ought not be clattering about up on that thing at a quarter to midnight (even though i want to!) :LB

Don't you have a pair of STILETTOS for those rare occasions when a few more inches would come in handy?

Hands down, Markie, The White Album should be a slam dunk.....and maybe we'll get all the rest of the Beatles output in 5.1.

INCREDIBLE remix.

Just listening to Revolution 9 now, really blows my mind. There is no way I heard these things this way on my little stereo record player in 1969.

Does anyone have a glitch-free copy of It's About Time? I can't remember the exact tracks, but a handful of the tracks in the middle of the disc had glitches that would lock my DVD-A player (Denon DVD-2910) up completely, and I remember reading somewhere here that other people had similar problems, but that maybe ripping the disc and playing back from files was a solution.

Did Concord ever re-press a "fixed" version of the disc?

after a few wee splutters track 3 goes haywire (with 2:27 remaining) and totally locks up my Cambridge Audio BDP.

its a slim possibility i was using a different player when i got the disc in question (i briefly had a Yamaha BDP which locked up during playback of the Marvin Gaye Collection SACD and once i'd got it restarted it could never play MultiCh SACDs again! so back that had to go for a refund. prior to that my trusty Pioneer universal player handled everything i threw at it.. so maybe either one of those machines played it back ok? or not! it was a long time ago now.. and as the song goes, the Secret Love's no secret anymore! well.. it still is in Surround on this disc!).

edit: it appears Mr.Moura the Multichannel Maven got to the bottom of this one a while back and shared his wisdom with his fellow QQ-ers;

Luckily Adam, Ralph gave me a heads up, so I was able to cancel my Discogs order without any hassle.
It is strange that my Sony X800 started to freeze after playing a few DVD Audio discs recently (Is this Sony getting It's own back!!?), so I now only play them exclusively via my Cambridge Azur 752BD. Although now that I have ripped 90% of them, the PC can sing to its hearts content instead.(y):)
