I got this disc a week ago but finally got some time to actually listen to it. I tend to only comment here highlighting a release that no one else has talked about. One of the very few DVD-As from Warner Japan of like, uh, Japanese music. Most of their DVD-As over there were of western music. Furthermore, this is an artist Japanese people actually cared about back then (in the 80s), kinda like we actually care about the Eagles, or Dire Straits. Plus, it won an award for best mix in 2003. So, this has got a lot riding on it.

This disc is rare, I managed to snag a copy after a lot of waiting. So, I pop it in. I skip straight to the second track because I like that one a lot. The mix sounds sublime, super active in the rears, which is rare over there. Nice.

Then the drums kick in.

I felt sick to my stomach. Oh no. Oh no no no. I collapse to the ground and crawl my way to the jewel case with the booklet and flip open to the credits page. And I read it:

Mastered by Isao Kikuchi

I make a dramatic scream and whimper back to my seat.

IF you don't know the guy, he did the Yes 2013 SACD remasters...

So, TLDR, a good mix ruined by aggressive brickwall limiting. Like, even normal people can hear how much pumping there is.

I think I know why Warner Japan gave up on DVD-Audio after this release...

A bonus, this disc uses some alternate takes I think, that's what it sounds like to me.
