Coming in just before the very end of 2024 is the usual summation of things we hope will be released in surround sound over this next year.
This listing is for reissues of albums that have already been released and is not focusing on any new albums that may be released from certain artists in the coming year.

Al Stewart - 2024 provided us with a fantastic box set from Esoteric Recordings of the album "Past Present and Future". I'm hoping the label will continue these reissues with a box set for the album "Modern Times", an album that was originally produced and engineered by Alan Parsons, so it would make sense for him to remix the album in surround sound!

Alan Parsons Project - Speaking of Alan Parsons, Alan has apparently said at a recent concert that "I Robot" will be the next APP album to be released as a super deluxe edition, most likely with 5.1 surround and Dolby Atmos remixes, similar to the recent "Pyramid" reissues.

Beatles - This year we were treated to a stellar box from the John Lennon camp of the album "Mind Games". My hope is that a similar box set is released for the follow up album "Walls and Bridges". As far as George Harrison is concerned, I am also hopeful that they will continue to remix and release his albums as well, and my guess for 2025 would be a deluxe edition of "Dark Horse", an album that could definitely use a remix!

Bill Nelson - Originally scheduled for release in 2024 but delayed until January 2025 is a new box of the Bill Nelson solo album "Quit Dreaming and Get on the Beam" remixed by Stephen W Tayler.

Bryan Ferry/Roxy Music - One release coming up very soon is an SDE exclusive Blu-Ray of the new Retrospective collection from Bryan Ferry, complete with 5.1 surround and Dolby Atmos mixes from Bob Clearmountain. As for Roxy Music, it looks like Phil Manzanera has recently teased box sets for albums like "For Your Pleasure" and "Avalon", the latter just having received a Grammy nomination for Best Immersive Audio release.

Elton John - 2025 is starting off with what is sure to be one of the best releases in the SDE Series, the Diamonds collection in Dolby Atmos on Blu-Ray for the first time! 2025 also marks the 50th anniversary of "Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy", an album that is a favorite of fans and of Elton himself! I'm sure the album will be released in Dolby Atmos to mark the anniversary but let's hope there's a physical release as well!

Frank Zappa - Over the last 3 years, the box sets from the Frank Zappa camp have been some of the best and most well received on here. My prediction for 2025 would be a box set for the album "One Size Fits All", which celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2025.

Genesis - One of the most anticipated releases already announced for 2025 is a brand new box set for "The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway", complete with a brand new Dolby Atmos mix of the album.

Gentle Giant - It's already been announced that Gentle Giant's live album "Playing the Fool" will be remixed and released in an expanded edition in the Spring. Steven Wilson is not involved in this release but I hope he will still continue to be involved in future Gentle Giant releases.

Hawkwind - Esoteric Recordings have treated to us to some amazing new box sets over the last few years celebrating the work of Hawkwind, and I predict that the next album to be remixed and reissued will be 1974's "Hall of the Mountain Grill".

Jethro Tull - It's not known at this time if Warner Music will continue their series of deluxe editions from Jethro Tull, but next up for a reissue would probably be "Under Wraps", an album that would greatly benefit from a remix.

King Crimson - I anticipate that in 2025, King Crimson will release new deluxe editions of earlier albums like "In the Wake of Poseidon" and "Lizard" complete with new Dolby Atmos mixes from Steven Wilson.

Marillion/Fish - It's been mentioned that Marillion will continue their deluxe edition release series with a deluxe edition of Marillion.com. As for Fish, I would love to see a deluxe edition released of his 1994 album "Suits", complete with new 5.1 surround and Dolby Atmos mixes

Nektar - Coming up for release very soon from Esoteric Recordings is a new box set edition of the album "Journey to the Centre of the Eye".

Pink Floyd - Even though we are still waiting on the highly anticipated 5.1 surround and Dolby Atmos remixes of "The Wall" to be released, it's expected that Pink Floyd will celebrate the 50th anniversary of "Wish You Were Here" in 2025 with a brand new Dolby Atmos mix of the album from their longtime engineer James Guthrie.

Robin Trower - An unexpected release from 2024 was the deluxe edition of "Bridge of Sighs" and if they were to continue and release a new deluxe edition for 2025, my prediction would be for the album "For Earth Below".

Rush - 2024 came and went without any major releases from the Rush camp, but people are still expecting and anticipating a box set for "Grace Under Pressure" to hopefully be released soon, complete with new 5.1 surround and Dolby Atmos mixes of the album we hope!

Simple Minds - @PaulatSDE has already announced that both "New Gold Dream" and "Sparkle in the Rain" will be reissued with new 5.1 surround and Dolby Atmos mixes from QQ fav Bob Clearmountain in February.

Talking Heads - I've heard Rhino plans to reissue all Talking Heads albums in similar deluxe editions like this year's reissue of Talking Heads 77 so that would mean that the next reissue would be for the album "More Songs About Buildings and Food".

Tear for Fears - 2025 is the 40th anniversary of Tears for Fears' biggest album "Songs from the Big Chair" and I anticipate the band will mark that occasion with a new Dolby Atmos mix of the album from Steven Wilson, something that will probably be released on Blu-Ray as part of the SDE Surround Sound Series, though I'm still hopeful that other albums not released in surround sound to date will also come out at some point.

Thin Lizzy - A "new" release coming out shortly is "The Acoustic Sessions" from Thin Lizzy. As for additional releases, maybe 2025 will bring us a box set for an album like "Nightlife" or "Fighting".

Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers - One of the biggest surprises of 2024 was the "Long After Dark" deluxe edition. I'm hoping that 2025 will see the release of a deluxe edition of "Southern Accents" complete with new 5.1 surround and Dolby Atmos mixes.

The Tragically Hip - Since 2021, the Tragically Hip have released some fantastic deluxe editions of their classic albums. My prediction for 2025 would be a deluxe edition of their album "Day for Night", remixed in 5.1 surround and Dolby Atmos.

Van der Graaf Generator - Already announced for release in March from Esoteric Recordings is "World Record" featuring a brand new remix from Stephen W Tayler.

The Who - For those of you who did not purchase the Who's Next box set in 2023, SDE are releasing a single disc Blu-Ray edition of the album in January. It's also been announced that the Who are currently working on a box set for the album "Who Are You" and Steven Wilson is remixing the album in 5.1 surround and Dolby Atmos. Let's hope it gets released in 2025!

XTC - While I certainly hope that 2025 will bring us an album like "English Settlement" or "Mummer" in surround sound, if the tapes for those albums still cannot be located, then I predict that we will see a new Dolby Atmos mix of "Oranges and Lemons", released in a similar mini LP style packaging similar to this year's reissue of "Skylarking".

Yes - Following on from the well received box sets for "The Yes Album" and "Fragile" it's expected that "Close to the Edge" will be released as a super deluxe edition in 2025 complete with a new Dolby Atmos mix from Steven Wilson.

Hopefully you enjoyed the read through! This post can be updated as needed.

:)

Good hopeful predictions.

Except that I'd offer that while "Southern Accents" would be welcome, I think most fans would rather see "Damn The Torpedos" or even "Hard Promises".

Or all three!
"Southern Accents" as a deluxe edition does make the most sense for 2025 since it celebrates its 40th anniversary next year, but more than one release is certainly welcome!

:)

I guess, but it seems we've seen the "anniversary" thing NOT be utilized more often than it has.

"Long After Dark" was released on its 42nd anniversary after all.... ;)

My own surround hopes for 2025 for artists not mentioned above...

Grateful Dead in Atmos on physical media. This seems like such a no-brainer to me. Some albums already exist in Atmos and the GD organization is pumping out product every year. How we haven’t seen something before now is a mystery to me.

KISS – Not a band to leave money on the table, is it? While I love Creatures of the Night, it was a shock to see that come before other albums. That excites me because while I expect there might be something released in box form in 2025, I have no clue what album it might be.

Santana – As long as Sony Japan keeps putting them out, I’ll keep buying them. Another quad in 2025 wouldn’t go unappreciated and I would think we’ll see one. I guess that would be Amigos? (MoFi is releasing that in vinyl “soon”.)

Porcupine Tree/Steven Wilson – I know he’ll be busy promoting a new album, so maybe releasing older PT or solo albums isn’t realistic, but it wouldn’t surprise me if he already has something lined up for the second half of the year.

Dire Straits – Jonathan’s excellent interview with Guy Fletcher via IAA has me hopeful we’ll get DS in Atmos. Getting it in 2025 might be a stretch, but it’s on my list anyway.

Dio – I thought I had read somewhere that Last in Line was being considered, although no timeline given. Seems, though, that Wendy is on a mission to keep releases coming.

Since Pink Floyd's WYWH does already have a MCH release and "The Wall" is a fair prediction I still hope for "Meddle" being worked on!
Meddle has a 5.1 mix that was (hidden) released in The Early Years box set.

But there are quite a few Floyd albums that could use surround mixes, and deluxe editions.

What about Rick Wright's Broken China? After Wet Dream, I was hoping for it in 2024 but there was nothing but silence on Rick's camp. Maybe in 2025 and thanks to the catalogue selling we'll get it. Hope springs eternal!

Box sets? I see them getting crazier and crazier, with cowbells, marbles, scarves, and who knows what else. Waiting for the pickup truck that will play the newly invented super surround spherical format.

A simple Blu-ray Atmos disc in an SACD jewel case seems to be too little to ask for.

Next year marks the 30th anniversary of the self-titled Alice In Chains album. I hope they release a physical edition this time, rather than just streaming the Dolby Atmos mixes like they did with the previous two albums.
Edit: In a recent interview, Jerry Cantrell confirmed that they’ve managed to keep track of most of their tapes and artwork, despite some industry losses over the years, and that the self-titled album’s master tapes are safe, debunking rumours they were lost.

Dutton Vocalion i'm hoping beyond hope for some more delectable Rock/Pop/Soul Quad goodies from the vaults lovingly remastered by the Watford Wizard! 🙏😍🤞

Sony Music Japan it would be lovely if Sony Japan could resume their 7" Surround SACDs of artists they've started delving into/only dipped their toe into, such as Billy Joel (2 more Quads to go), Herbie Hancock (3 more Quads), Mahavishnu Orchestra (1), Carole King (4), Santana (2), Laura Nyro (1).

Dutton Vocalion discs or Sony Surround 7-inchers for CBS/RCA artists like Mountain (3 Quads in all), Blue Öyster Cult (1 down, 1 to go) Edgar Winter (5), Johnny Winter (3), Redbone (2), Labelle (2), Jefferson Airplane (2), MFSB (1 Quad remaining), Paul Simon (3), Simon & Garfunkel (2), Phoebe Snow (1), Andy Williams (7), Johnny Mathis (8), Bob Dylan (3), Elvis Presley (9), Jose Feliciano (5), Charley Pride (5), Johnny Nash (1), The Hi-Liters (1), Wild Cherry (1), B.T. Express (1) and any as yet unreleased CTI Quads would be fantastic 🤞😻

Rhino Quadio i guess any of the following are possibilities in 2025; Aretha Franklin (2), Arlo Guthrie (1), Carly Simon (4), David Gates (2), Graham Central Station (1 Quad remaining), Herbie Mann (3), James Taylor (3), Maria Muldaur (1), Modern Jazz Quartet (3), New Seekers (1), Rod Stewart (1), Souther-Hillman-Furay Group (2), Tony Orlando & Dawn (2 on Elektra), WAR (2).

also any modern Multichannel reissues of the following labels Quad treasures would be epic; ABC/Command (any would be a miracle!), A&M (ditto!!), Arista (incl. Brecker Brothers, Outlaws), Avco (Stylistics, Van McCoy), Buddah, (Gladys Knight & The Pips), Curtom (Curtis Mayfield), Fantasy/Prestige/Milestone (Blackbyrds, CCR, Flora Purim, Stanley Turrentine, Woody Herman), Hi-Records (Al Green), London, Motown (Diana Ross, Jackson 5, Marvin Gaye, Temptations), Stax (Isaac Hayes, Staple Singers)

The Grateful Dead albums would be great releases for Rhino's ongoing Atmos Blu-Ray series as both "Workingman's Dead" and "American Beauty" could be released on Blu-Ray with both the new Atmos mixes and the original 5.1 mixes too.

Concerning KISS, I still haven't brought myself to get either box set of theirs simply because they are too costly for me when I'm not a big KISS fan but certainly any other surround remixes would be welcome on streaming at least.

As far as Santana goes, since Amigos came out in 1976, maybe a reissue wouldn't happen until 2026, but I'm sure Sony Japan will have other things to release in 2025.

For Porcupine Tree & Steven Wilson, I guess a deluxe edition of "The Incident" is likely to come out at some point, plus I'm sure SW will eventually try to remix and release his solo albums in Atmos, at least the ones it's possible to do so with.

I should also mention that 2025 is the 40th anniversary of "Brothers in Arms", an album that is already streaming in Atmos, so I wouldn't be surprised if the Atmos mix gets a physical release to mark the anniversary, either in a box set or maybe as an SDE release.

Since "Broken China" originally came out in 1996, it would definitely make sense to remix and reissue the album in time for its 30th anniversary in 2026, although I'm sure no one will complain if it happens earlier than that.

:)

Between the SDE releases and what Rhino has been releasing lately, single disc Blu-Ray releases have been more plentiful than ever, not to mention that certain labels like Esoteric do a nice job of putting together box sets that are high on quality content and low on excessive items. Plus as I always say, better to have these mixes in some physical format rather than just on streaming or not releasing them at all.

:)

It would be great if Sony produced more non 7” titles like this one-

https://www.discogs.com/release/8367681-The-Gadd-Gang-The-Gadd-Gang

I'd add Tears For Fears - Seeds Of Love (Atmos by SW), I believe this one is already mixed, so just a matter of time.
Also, given the trends we've seen with special editions, maybe Porcupine Tree - The Incident boxset (same mix + a documentary).

I have a couple of Santana 7" releases. Great sound and music, of course, but doggone inconvenient when it comes to storage. Simple boxes that fit where they ought to - is that too much (or little) to ask for?

Thanks! Our 2025 preview article was actually just published over at IAA: https://immersiveaudioalbum.com/coming-soon-in-2025-immersive-music-preview/

I decided to limit myself to 25 titles (both legacy and new music) - most of our choices align with @rtbluray's and other posters on this thread, but I'll add a few more.

Grateful Dead - Since it's the 50th anniversary, I'm hoping Steven Wilson's Atmos mix of Blues For Allah will be released in 2025 either via streaming or Blu-Ray.

Kraftwerk - A forthcoming Dolby Atmos mix of Autobahn was recently confirmed by Paul Sinclair via Instagram. If they do a Blu-Ray, hopefully the '70s quad mix will be included as well (if the masters can be found)

Propaganda - 2025 marks the 40th anniversary of A Secret Wish. Original producers Stephen Lipson and Trevor Horn both seem to be interested in Atmos/surround, plus Steven Wilson is a fan of this record. Between the three of those guys, I'm sure someone could do a great surround mix of this album.

Rolling Stones - Over at the SHF, members seem convinced that 1976's Black and Blue will be the next reissue from the Stones. If so, I imagine an Atmos mix of this album will definitely appear via streaming (as was the case with Tattoo You). It'll be interesting to see if they do a Blu-Ray too, like with Goats Head Soup and Hackney Diamonds.

Snarky Puppy - An Atmos mix of 2014's We Like It Here quietly appeared via streaming several weeks ago. Perhaps a Blu-Ray edition from the band's label GroundUP will follow, as was the case with this year's Sylva reissue.

Queen - Since they put out an Atmos mix of the debut via streaming earlier this year, I can't imagine they'd miss the opportunity to do the same for A Night At The Opera's 50th in 2025.

Sinead O'Connor - Steven Wilson demoed an Atmos mix of her classic song "Nothing Compares 2 U" at the Munich Hi-Fi show earlier this year. 2025 marks the 35th anniversary of the album that song came from, I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got.

A-Ha - 2025 marks the 40th anniversary of Hunting High and Low. SW's Atmos mix of "Take On Me" has been streaming for several years now, and he gave a rather cagey answer when I asked if he remixed the entire album back in July 2022. Perhaps we'll see this one next year?

It will be interesting to see if SW's remixes for "Blues for Allah" will be released as part of a bigger box set for that album, as a single-disc Blu-Ray, or on streaming only. Definitely not hoping for the latter.
The Kraftwerk Autobahn release would be a good one for SDE, as would A Secret Wish, whereas "Hunting High and Low" would be a good title for Rhino's Atmos series.
"Black and Blue" would be an interesting choice for a Rolling Stones box set, although I would prefer "It's Only Rock n Roll" which hasn't been released in an expanded format yet.
"A Night at the Opera" would definitely be a title fit for remixing and releasing in Atmos, but I do wonder if it might be a longer wait for that one, that is if they decide to remix and reissue albums like "Queen II" and "Sheer Heart Attack" first.

Great additions for sure! :)
