Lori Lieberman - new album "Truly" on IAA (with Bob Clearmountain Atmos Mix!)

I'm really proud to have been a part of this project - our initial goal was just to license the out-of-print 5.1 mix of Bricks Against The Glass, but it turned out they had been prepping an Atmos mix of Lori's latest release for streaming platforms only. I'm told that the two albums between Bricks and Truly (2015's Ready For The Storm and 2019's The Girl and the Cat) are sitting on Clearmountain's hard drive in 5.1, if these sell well maybe they can be persuaded to have those mastered and released.

Sweet! Now if I can only figure out how to get my rig to play mkv files in Atmos, I will be buying this.

My ignorant advice is, build a laptop for the purpose, running VLC, or something similar.
That's what I'm attempting...

That is absolutely brilliant, Jonathan! Kudos. I'm on the road right now, but will buy & download both as soon as I get home.

Second that. Even an older laptop works just fine. And Windows will handle Atmos natively, passing it to your AVR via HDMI. VLC, Kodi, Windows Movies & TV...

Just as a heads-up to anyone who was on-the-fence or passed on Truly due to the lack of a dedicated 5.1 option, we've now added 96-khz/24-bit 5.1 & 7.1 fold-downs from the 7.1.4 master created by Darcy Proper. I'm not 100% sure what she did, but I think they sound better than downmixes of the Atmos MKV through tools like MMH or AudioMuxer. If you already purchased the album and are interested in these, email [email protected] or PM me here and I'll get them over to you.

I suppose it goes without saying that this is a great surround mix, given Clearmountain's involvement. It doesn't quite hit you over the head like Prent's Bricks Against The Glass, but the material is simpler and more laid-back. The sound quality is out-of-this-world good. If you have side speakers, they're used pretty aggressively for isolated guitar parts while the organ and "you-are-there" studio ambience fill out the rear surrounds. The percussion in the opening track is mixed partially to the rear heights and sounds really cool.

Once I've reduced the physical to-listen-to mountain I'll have to get the albums I don't have, love her music.
............. and add them to the virtual to-listen-to mountain, maybe I should get into computer games and build a virtual to-listen-to mountain on Minecraft
