Geesh! This guy's ad is full of more "LOL's" than actual details of the receiver! The pics are terrible and the explanation is just pitiful.....
I'd steer clear of this one....I have a strong feeling there's more issues wrong with this receiver than a button cap that he can't even glue back on!! OY!

I owned this model decades ago. It isn't quadraphonic so there is a serious problem with the auction to begin with.

Of course it is quadraphonic. That is what the 4xxx designation means. He has one wrong pic of the back of the unit, but he answers that later in the ad.

I just looked at the picture of the back of the receiver and it wasn't a picture of a quad receiver. I didn't read his explanation.

Granted, he seems particularly clueless on this item ... even for eBay. But.

IF in fact it's a 4430, and IF in fact the only problem is the power switch (I read power cap and originally thought he was talking about the capacitors), and IF in fact it actually works, maybe not a bad buy.

Cosmetically it don't look bad, IF in fact that's the right pic posted ... :D

** Oh, and it is a quad unit, both QX and SQ rated at 30w per with two full sets of speaker outputs and two full IO 4ch tapes and two true 4ch aux. All is all, nice features.

IF in fact I remember right ...

Marantz SQ decoders were plug-in units that fit into a cavity on the bottom of the chassis. If it has a decoder it is a decent deal. If not, you are better off with a modern-day PLII receiver with a multichannel input. There was no QS decoder, but there was a basic matrix decoder that they called Vari-matrix ... not to be confused with Sansui's Variomatrix ... not even close.

I had the stereo 2216 pictured for many years for a secondary system, sold it in the 90's at a garage sale and it still worked fine. I don't know if the 4430 was any good but surely somebody here owned it. The FM Quadradial output in the back makes the 2230, 2216 or whatever models that had it get listed as quad receivers mistakenly on occasion.
