hi! any updates on this? i've been away from my windows machine for a bit and trying to do all the stuff that music media helper does effortlessly has become a bit of a pain.

I’ve done some work on MMH 8, which so far has been separation of the code and user interface (untangle MMH from Windows) but I haven’t done anything since January.

My plan is to release MMH 8 (for Windows) and then build a UI for MacOS on top of that, for just a few tools initially which will be related to BDA/BDV audio conversion, tagging & renaming, chapter management/splitting and cue file creation. That will include the MusicBrainz database lookup to get album/concert tracks and other metadata online.

I will probably get back to MMH 8 fairly soon but I have a 6 week trip into the Northern Territory (outback) starting mid June so a Mac version won’t happen until late this year at earliest, after I’m back.

For what it’s worth, I’m a devout Mac user, but I installed Parallels specifically so I could use MMH. It works flawlessly, and is also allowing me to use other Windows-only apps I’ve never tried before. Highly recommended.

Personally I almost exclusively use the Extract Audio from MKV function to convert an MKV created by MakeMKV into individual MKA tracks.

I use MMH mostly for processing Atmos rips, so Extract from MKV, tagging Media files and creating Cue files…

I use Parallels for Mac, I highly recommend it. It may not be worth the $120/year cost if you cannot find another use for it other than MMH, but it works great. In laymen's terms, it runs Windows in the background on a Mac with seamless integration to macOS. Or, click a button and it turns into a Windows machine. 1 click back, and your are back to macOS. I've ran it on my old MacBook Pro 8GB RAM model, and although it worked, it wasn't very snappy. 16GB RAM definitely recommended. Furthermore, it runs Windows snappier than my brand new, not cheap, company issued Surface Book.

Are you still considering making a Linux version?
This would be great, as I am planning to move away from Windows, and love to use this program on here.
I mostly use the "Chapter Editor", "Tag & Rename Media Files" and "Extract Audio from MKV" tools from Music Media Helper, but if you ported everything that would be fantastic.

I have another question as well:
Should I split .mka files (Dolby Atmos) I created from my Blu-rays, or should I just leave them with the chapters if I want gapless playback? I would expect it to depend on the software used for playback, but I'm quite new to this.
And what about tagging?

It depends on your player:

Kodi on all platforms will soon support chaptered and tagged MKA files for music which will give you gapless Atmos. I posted this earlier today:
