I generally order from Music Direct, because orders over $49 get free shipping.

I don't order from Mo-Fi (Music Direct and Mo-Fi have same ownership) as there is no free shipping.

I only order from Acoustic Sounds for in stock where I can use Paypal. Too many folks have reported issues with credit card fraud after they have used their credit cards to preorder there. And I have cancelled some orders, yet I continue to get emails asking for my credit info if I want the order. Suspicious. And folks report Acoustic Sounds has never addressed their concerns.

I see VanHalen Fair Warning is now available for pre-order. Yup - I did it. And I just realized that it's been over 3 YEARS since I ordered the original batch of 4 titles and so far only 2 titles have actually shipped. wow - MOFI, what is the deal ?
As you undoubtedly know, some MoFi pre-orders are the equivalent of vaporware.

SILLY, SILLY ME! Not being a massive VH fan, I didn't pre order any of those MoFi SACDs but did buy 2 MQA encoded CDs of BALANCE and 5150 and they sound EXCEPTIONAL decoded in full 24b [and if you don't believe me, just ask marpow and cbmmm3 who also AGREE....and both have state of the art separate components]. I should have bought all of those MQA VH cds as CDJapan is blowing them out for under $18 but 4 titles are already sold out

Van Halen 5150 Japan MINI LP MQA-CD WPCR-18688 Sammy Hagar Limited - Picture 1 of 2

Take THAT MoFi ......

Do you think HEJIRA will come out on SACD through MoFi? Very sad for any surround prospects, but I'd buy it.
I played the shit out of that album during my 3 years in the Army. Had it on a cassette tape, LOL. Who knows, maybe Rhino will someday release a Dolby Atmos mix like they did with other Joni albums on the box set. 🤔

I still stick to, don't order if it is a Coming Soon or a Pre Order. Always plenty of time.

I do not order from Music Direct, I feel they are a little, slow.

I order directly from MOFI, always seem to have a good experience.

I’ve been ordering the Van Halen releases directly from the MoFi Website up to Women and Children First. Recently, I placed my preorder for Fair Warning through the Music Direct Website. Ordering through the MD Website allows me to save on shipping costs. Since, both MD and MoFi orders are shipped out of the MD warehouse in Chicago, I haven’t experienced any delays from either Website. Unless you count the very long Preorder window for Women and Children First. 😆

On another note, I always wondered if the limited edition numbered releases that are ordered via the MoFi Website were lower. I even had this conversation with a sales rep who told me that fact. Well, I haven’t seen any evidence to the contrary.

Personally, I’ll never tell anyone how to run their business but it is in my opinion that it’s a bunch of crap for Music Direct to offer free shipping on one Website and charge on another when items from both Websites are shipped from the same exact location.

MOST especially since MoFi has raised the price of their STEREO/MONO SACDs to 35 BUCKS + TAX + S/H...well over 40 BUCKS!

Those are good observations Perp.
I have some negative thoughts about ordering as I do from MOFI direct. The big one is the shipping cost.
Sometimes I think MOFI does a little trick. They will have a new release out today as an example, so the collector gets excited and orders paying the $9.99 shipping and then next week they offer a new release, so the collector gets double dipped, in fear that they may lose out.
The recent Off The Wall, sold out quick, but also came back quick.
I do think ordering from MOFI a person does get a lower number. I have many low under 100 #'s, but at the same time random high numbers.
The low # is just a mind trip anyway. Whose to say the actual disc might be the 150th pressed put in a cardboard sleeve at #39.
The Off The Wall, that I think arrives today had a cost of , almost to the point of ridiculous:
Shipping to Calif:
$34.99-Disc cost.
$9.99-Shipping
$3.37-Tax
$48.35 for a stereo Hybrid SACD, that is almost a kin to gouging.

Analogue Productions $43.77 (Not sure if they charge tax, I went as far as I could without giving my CC info.)

Music Direct $48.35-Free shipping over $49.00.
Doesn't do much good if you are all caught up on Hybrid SACD releases as they come out. But good to remember if two get released at the same time.

IMO, Markie, THAT IS GOUGING ...as most MoFi SACDs are under 40 minutes in length ...and the numbering of the discs is a farce.

Some people like the lower numbered disc due to the resale value being a bit higher. I never understood this numbering system. Now, if the discs sounded better the lower numbered one gets, all bets are off. Or, one can tell oneself it sounds better. 😂

The numbering system makes sense when it applies to VINYL whereby the lower the number from the stamper it was thought the better the pressing!

As pertains to PRESSED SACDs ..... BS! Purely a marketing ploy!

but but Ralphie...a low number just feels like a win. We all like to win. Just got my Fleetwood Mac Tango In The Night SACD. Number #212. Oh well. Ill spin this disc shortly.
