Star Wars - all except Ep1 and maybe 2. I just can't stand that stupid Jar Jar Binks character. He ruined the whole movie for me, turning them into 7 yo children's entertainment.

Here's one I haven't seen mentioned that has managed to withstand multiple viewings by moi: Pitch Black. Radha Mitchell, Vin Diesel, a cool story (by the dudes who wrote Silent Scream which is a decent horror to check out if you haven't already), some memorable lines, good times.

any of the 4.75 films from Superman (Game of Death is 3/4.. I have a DVD with all the existing footage which counts as ALMOST a whole film)
(this was the last scene he EVER filmed/appeared on...)

Again, great job everyone.

My favorite music-type movie, and quite possibly my favorite movie of all time, is "Almost Famous". Just to live vicariously through William's (Cameron's) eyes as he got to follow a rock band around at the prime time of rock, that is the ultimate boomer fantasy. That scene where he looks through the albums that his sister left him gives me the freaking chills every time.

And "Fever Dog"!! Crank that sucker up. Back in the old days, I managed to get the DVD with the bonus CD of the Stillwater songs from the movie. Awesome!

This scene always kills me:

Really? Not a single vote for Harold and Maude, the "greatest love story of our generation". And no Princess Bride? And like so many of you, Blazing Saddles, The Fifth Element and of course Groundhogs Day and Groundhogs Day and Groundhogs Day and...

SEE MY POST #76. BTW, Burt Cort who played Harold was a year behind me in Grammar School.

Did not expect to see a Lina Vertmuller film on anyone's list. So wonderful but so depressing. Then again, the sex scene with the fish eye lens... one of a kind!

Ah, Yes, one of director Lina Wertmüller's greatest achievements with the great Shirley Stoler Shirley Stoler

I'm trying to avoid the ones I've already seen posted and there are a bunch of those on my list as well. That said:

-The Matrix Trilogy (but not because of the Martial Arts shenanigans, I'm partial to the Wachowski's lifts of the lid to Plato's "The Cave" and Jean Baudrillard's Simulacra and Simulation)
-Sharky's Machine (I like both the story and the soundtrack, but not necessarily in that order.)
-Unforgiven ("Deserves got nothin' to do with it" finds its way into my conversations almost every day.)
-Too Big To Fail (Topical)
-Margin Call (Ditto)
-The Right Stuff
-Apollo 13
-Devil's Advocate (a couple of really insightful monolog's by Pacino in that one. Especially the one with "Buy futures, sell futures, when there IS no FUTURE" in it)
-It's a Wonderful Life (just not around Christmas)
-To Kill A Mockingbird
-Bridge Over the River Kwai
-The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance
-Alexander Nevsky (you can't go wrong with Prokofiev)
-Bridge of Spies
-The Road To Perdition
-The Owl and the Pussycat (mostly because of the B, S&T/Dick Halligan Soundtrack)
-American Beauty (Thomas Newman's soundtrack gets licensed out all over the place and it's pretty good, IMO)
-The Gauntlet (again, mostly because of Jon Faddis' contributions to Jerry Fielding's (Hogan's Heroes & others) soundtrack
-Uncle Joe Shannon (Maynard Ferguson's performances on Bill Conti's soundtrack-the movie itself is pretty silly...)
-The Wild One (Leith Stevens/Shorty Rogers/Maynard Ferguson soundtrack)
-"The Hustler" and "The Color Of Money".
(-Any other Scorcese movie really)

I know I'm missing some. I might add/edit later. (Great idea for a thread!)
Just watched The Right Stuff yesterday for the umpteenth time. Never gets old!! 👩‍🚀🚀👨‍🚀✨
