The 5.1 mix on the Bee Gees's disc is pretty good though I did have to turn the volume down on my AV receiver[it's pretty powerful mix wise].

So the rears are actually used for music? I am let down by most Blu ray concerts as they are really 3.1!

I gotta kick in, some Bd are as you say. I have several that are poor production with regard to using all channels like say dvd audio, but then again there are some of those that are poor prod. involved. When you listen to something like the Steely Dan or Don Fagen stuff-it spoils you. In my opinion those recordings are some of the best 5.1 done. I have a very hard time listening to other stuff after I have listened to those productions.

Steven Tyler sounds pretty good for his age and the 5.1 mix is pretty good too.

Deep Purple With Orchestra - Live At Montreux 2011

Bargain bin charity shop steal for £2. Very front row sounding mix, but 24/96 DTS-HD Master Audio does pack an elevated punch with lots of air and crispness matched by a deep and broad bass.

The Complete Monterey Pop Festival - Criterion Bluray Box Set

Strictly speaking I've owned this for 2 years but I misplaced it not long after I bought it. Where to begin? It's the reason I bought an Oppo BDP-83 that was multi-region for Bluray - strictly speaking Criterion were the reason but this one especially is stellar. Special mention goes to the Otis SHAKE! film - incendiary stuff, but that's just the tip of the iceberg here. I'm on holiday today and I'm heading to Monterey :smokin

If you own the DVD version - which is wonderful I would still recommend the upgrade. Oh so crankable.

I have that in my amazon basket. Do you rate the performance highly? What about overall surround mix?

Willy Deville: Live In The Lowlands (Eagle Vision Blu-ray). Lovely, clear dts HD MA mix with even some occasional use of the rears to expand the instrumentation. PQ is good and the performance excellent. Recommended for fans and people who like well-recorded blues.

Primus "Sailing The Seas of Cheese" CD + Blu-Ray. I actually bought it from a real store! Best Buy today just because it was there and I could! What a novel experience these days. I now have Pink Floyd "Dark Side Of The Moon" and somehow 2 copies of Beastie Boys Hot Sauce Committee Which contains a Blu-Ray and DVD of the music in 5.1 and all of the remixes!:smokin When are we getting the smoking dancing banana icon?
