Well, back in action, sort of. According to the Geek, for the normal person Windows 11 is more problematic than previous versions and of course Microsoft is working on it.
He said, all the company's are trying to have us go to subscription cloud based systems, which is why One Drive is becoming not an option to have or not have.
Even when I was diving deep into my Synology NAS they where offering cloud based at $5.99 a month. Wait, my NAS and my copied external hard drives are my cloud.

1. I used Synology Assistant to map network drive. I did this myself, but kept losing it, turning off and on PC. Geek showed me to Pin To Quick Access. Now I can see what I have been looking at for over 10 years. Rip music to downloads, drag and drop to NAS.

2. The PC that I remote access into for playing music with JRiver. Same process as above. Now have to import from the new IP so JRiver can play the songs. Took about 12 hours to import from the NAS. It was pretty successful, it will take me awhile of course to notice any import errors if I even notice, most significantly what I have noticed is one track is missing, but that is an easy fix, I just go back and import that album only.
3. Have played via JRiver test track music (2.0-Mono-4.0-5.1-Atmos, FLAC-DSF-MKV) files and all good.

My ripping software for future rips, MakeMKV-DVDAE-Windows Media Player, all good.

Still need help:
Sonore ripping SACD via OPPO 105- think I will call my friend who helped me set up the key thumb drive and software years ago.
Music Media Helper-This should be so easy and the Geek gave it a good shot but admitted over his head.

I think I am able to say I now have all the bugs worked out on my new PC Windows 11 laptop.
Big learning curve, some previous simple things became hard.
My JRiver player did not like the change with the new importing IP address, but I understand the fits and just roll with it. The good news is it enables me to see imports and I have made decisions as to actually remove files from my NAS. Stuff I loaded on the NAS when I was a beginner. Work in progress. I don't mind as it is my hobby.

Sonore SACD Ripping: Not yet. I'll try to re-crack it open by end of this month.

Thanks everyone for the help.

If its any consolation, I have just had a Windows 10 update and now my PC won't let me connect to my Synology NAS  says I don't have the correct permissions.

So its hunt what sh*t the update has done to my Windows settings :mad:

My last ditch saving grace was the Synology Assistant>map network drive>pin run to start.
I tried doing the same from the DSM page and couldn't?

That would be the DSM page, where you can see all things in your Synology NAS.
The below screen shot shows the Synology Assistant, which will map the drive on the network, in my case the shortcut I named Music.
Right click and pin to start. See lower screen shot. I am ripping Elton John now, reason for seeing that.

I don't know if this will help you but as all my files are stored on external HDD's (I have nothing stored on the internal HDD). Under 'External Devices' it looks like this: -

Under 'Shared Folder' it looks like this: -

And under 'File Services' it looks like this: -

I can get to it via the NAS portal using Edge with no issues, but if I try and connect directly or to Map as a Drive, then it either gives me a no permissions error, or weirdly as is happening today it connects, but very very very slowly. So, just now I managed to transfer a test file from the PC to the NAS, the transfer rate was 278Bytes/second on a 1GB network! Earlier I rang a friend who runs an IT company and we think it is to do with password/credentials/handshake between the PC/NAS, and he tried to connect to his Synology NAS and he can't either post Windows update!

Hmmm...

Are you connecting through a network switch or through a router? When was the last time you re-booted ALL your networking gear?
Interesting, so you mean, reboot Modem/Router and all switches?
This makes sense.
I have 3 switches.
I was having trouble with the new PC, it did not like the ethernet connection from one of the switches. I rebooted just that one and the PC Ethernet connection came to life.
Sounds like rebooting all is good.
Would you reboot, one at a time, or walk around and shut all off and then start turning all back on.

I have a switch in the loft connected to the Router on the landing, all rooms are connected via 1G Ethernet to the switch, so the PC sits on direct connection to the switch, and the NAS are directly connected to the Router. So the switch in the loft hasn't be rebooted for a long time everything else has.

Web portal access is really fast, so just when File Explorer tries to look at a NAS does the issue occur

I had a very weird issue just before Christmas.

My TV, OPPO, 4K Fire Stick (via dongle) and laptop are connected to the same 5-port gigabit switch in my lounge. My 4K Fire Stick and TV were able to connect to the outside world but my laptop couldn't. So I ended up going into my loft where my BT router and 8-port switch is located and re-booted both devices. By the time I cleaned up, put the loft ladder away and got back into the lounge, everything was back to normal and working fine...

Worth a try. Turned off the router on the landing, went into the loft and power cycled the 24-port switch, powered the router back up, sadly didn't make any difference, but still worth trying - mind you it was 5degC in the loft!

I started this thread neding Help, figured out the network, still not getting the Sonore ripper.
Now complete, got the Sonore SACD ripper back in action.
I won't bore you with the details, I can if you want.
The main thing as I am not computer literate and I assume things that are wrong sometimes.
I assumed that my new IP address network was the same on all my connected devices, I was reading some stuff and wondered maybe my OPPO 105 reads a different IP address. Hooked up a monitor to the OPPO and bang, a different IP address, typed it in the Sonore GUI JAR application and now ripping SACD's again Stereo and MCH.
Through all my disfunction I even found a way to rip the Stereo and the MCH at the same time, I used to have the desktop app and could only rip one at a time.

Now My JRiver still does not like the new IP address. It imports and plays just fine, that's all that really matters. But the tagging is slow, shows ERROR pop up's even though it completes the task.
Like for instance if I change or add artwork, it loads slower than before, and some times doesn't fill out all the tracks and I have to do it again.
I should go on the JRiver Forum and ask for help.

Nervous, my PC player in my audio rack that the JRiver player is loaded on is Windows 10. I got notification that it will want to go to Windows 11 in March or May, I forget.
I'm nervous to change the 10 to 11. Do you think it should go OK? If I do?

The work computer is a Windows 10 converted to 11, which started this whole mess. The PC at home where I remote access from is a new Windows 11, where I had Geek Squad do a Data Swap (don't do that). The PC in the audio rack would just be a upgrade from 10 to 11, should be a simple thing?

Well, if your Windows 10 machines have supporting hardware, upgrade should be easy. If they don't have Windows 11 supported hardware, there's an easy workaround, using the RUFUS USB install utility. There are other ways...I know because I just went through all this with my friend, who has unsupported hardware (cpu) for Win 11 and we went through every method.

All failed. But he has a fuc**ing Dell pc. So I had him go through the BIOS after boot and change some settings and we just basically tried every possible option and finally! He had Win 11 Pro installed on what MS calls "non supported hardware". I did the same on my older Win 10 machine to upgrade, though with a different method.
Of course we both had purchased cheap but legit registration keys. Not going to ever pay almost $200 for a Windoze license ever again if I can help it.

Now on my other, old hardware, 6th gen Intel machine, I did the Win 11 upgrade and kept all programs and files and it worked out fine. This was with a script that uses a an actual MS supported Windows Server installation method....but it installs the version of Windows that you point it to, it just uses that method to bypass hardware restrictions that a "normal" fresh Win 11 install will balk at on older pc's.

YouTube is full of ways to do it.l

As for JRiver....well....except for SACD .iso playback I think it sucks. ...and I do have a paid for copy. I guess it's like Kodi, you love it or you don't. I don't like either.
