Now, what is odd is that even with the restore, while it fixed the foobar that I have pinned to my task bar (reverted back to previous version, which works) but the new icon which...when I open it shows me the new version.

Makes no sense. I installed the new version just a couple hours ago, not yesterday. So, what's my issue with the new version? It doesn't recognize my Darkone skin. Makes no sense to me at all.

New version is a new program. You now have two Foobar2000s. 1 old, 1 new. They are completely independent.

Sounds like what happened to me. I went to update to v2.24 and it created a second version which shows as the basic design. I tried to use my Darkone v1.0 skin but it says that my Darkone version won't work with the v2.24. I went to the Darkone site to get a newer copy but it wants me to join their community for a fee. I figured WTF I'll just delete the new Foobar. When I went to uninstall it I'm asked what it wants me to remove. I was afraid that it would delete items that I needed for my current version so I canceled it. Now I have the older Foobar which works fine and the v2.24 which I just (can't) won't use.

You probably have one 64bit version and one 32bit version. The 64bit version has limited component add-on support, so just use the 32bit version. It is located in your Program Files (x86) folder. C:\Program Files (x86)\foobar2000

I'm still using foobar2000 v1 because of V2 incompatibility with the skin I'm using (I think I'm using DarkOne too) and all of the customizations I made to it so that it is exactly how I want it.

It works and I don't have to think about it, so I'm sticking with it until my hand is forced.

Though, even though things seem to be looking and working normally, each time I open foobar, I get this annoying popup which I have to close down.

Are you using any of those components? If not, just go to the folder and move or delete them.
Move them first just in case it screws everything up.

I went into the duplicated versions, deleted them all and everything still works! :)
maybe just needed to delete the Roaming dll's; I used to have all kinds of issues with dll's in earlier versions of Windows.

Here's what Google AI says about them-

A DLL (Dynamic Link Library) file in your Roaming folder (typically located in C:\Users\[YourUsername]\AppData\Roaming) is a shared library file that contains code and data used by applications to perform specific tasks. These DLLs are often associated with user-specific settings and preferences, rather than being system-wide files like those found in the System32 folder.

In essence, DLLs in the Roaming folder are used by applications to store and access configuration data, settings, or other application-specific information related to a particular user's profile.

Here's a breakdown:
  • DLLs are reusable components:
They contain code and resources that can be shared by multiple programs, promoting efficiency and reducing disk space usage.

  • Roaming folder context:
The Roaming folder is a special directory in your user profile that is intended to store user-specific data that can be synchronized across different devices.

  • Application-specific settings:
DLLs in the Roaming folder are typically used by applications to store user preferences, settings, or other configuration data that is specific to that application and user.

  • Synchronization:
When you log into a different computer, your Roaming folder is typically synchronized, allowing your applications to access your saved settings and preferences.

And the roaming copy is the exact ones I deleted.

After much reinstalling, deleting, reinstalling. I finally got current version of Foobar2000 to work with my favorite skin, Darkone4Mod. Looks like it always did, yay....
😲 So was that Foobar v2.24 and Darkone4Mod v1.0?
Also, do you then have both versions of Foobar working?

For any members who are using the darkoneMOD, I've always NOT liked how the song being played and or selected gets shaded a different color. Does anyone know how to remove the shading that occurs when you either select a song, or allow it to play through to next song in the album.

I find it distracting. I mean, if it could just show the "arrow" button and not shade it, I'd be happy as heck.

Hey Ed. Yes, I'm now using Foobar v2.24 (32 bit) WITH the Darkone4Mod v1.0.
I got rid of my old version of Foobar. I think it was something like 1.5.??
Thanks. I thought the v2.24 was only available as 64 bit. That's what downloaded when I did it. That's why I'm having problems.

Why are there 2 #2 tracks?
