Question for the Oppo experts out there:

After years of keeping an eye out for a preowned Oppo for a reasonable price, I finally have the opportunity to get a hold of one. It's a BD-103, and it comes with the original remote, wireless dongle, and power cord. I have not seen it in person, but based on pictures, it appears to be in excellent condition. Price is $200.

As someone who has been playing his surround music through a bit of a "Frankenstein" set-up (Sony Blu-Ray player for Blu-Ray Audio, Denon DVD player for SACD and DVD-Audio), it will be nice to have an all-in-one machine that plays pretty much everything (I also have a good amount of HDCD-encoded CDs in my collection). One technical note: the digital chip in my receiver is fried, so I have to listen to all my music (surround and stereo) through analog connections, as HDMI won't work. (Yes, I know I need a new receiver, but budget is tight).

All of that said, would you say that the Oppo is a smart purchase for that price? My only hesitation is the age of the machine and the fact that Oppo no longer provides tech support since they went out of business.

Any pros/cons that you can think of before I commit to purchasing? Are there other, newer, reasonably priced machines that do everything I'm looking for AND have analog outs?

Thanks!

I think it's a great price.

Last I heard, Oppo still does provide support and repairs. They stopped making disc players and audio gear. They didn't go out of business. They still manufacture phones.

Ok, that's good to know. Thanks for the reply!
