Just Listened to this one. Very good! The surrounds are used discreetly throughout. (y)

They do "Heart To Hang On To" (very nice). This song also appears on the Pete Townsend - "Benefit for Maryville Academy" with Eddie Vedder singing along, and on the Who - "Live at the Royal Albert Hall" (SACD)

What a refreshing event to have a newly remastered hi-res 5.1 release to listen to, that's not just classical or jazz. It would be nice if they released Pete's entire catalog like this! I would probably buy them all. Then perhaps the entire "Who" catalog! Ah.....we can only dream!

Can't wait for the Doors box set!

I just received "Rough Mix" a few days ago.

Good stuff! I never even knew about this album before. Very discrete mix (i.e. lots of separation), with a sound quality very pleasing to the ears. I enjoy most of the tracks. Pete's voice sounds great on the tracks he sings on.

As above i received a copy a few days ago now now.
A hidden gem of an album, nicely mixed. ronnie lanes vox appear at times to not as strong as his faces and small faces vox, however thhat does not take away the charm of a very good album, that almost sneaked out unnoticed as a proper DVDA.

gets My thumbs up

Good point on Ronnie's vocals. I remember thinking that exact thing when the record was released. But as years passed and the details emerged about his Multiple Sclerosis I began to feel differently. Taken in context (his soon-to-be diagnosed MS coupled with his financial and drinking issues at the time), I’ve come to accept that his frail voice on this record nicely captures our fragile human condition and actually adds to its many subtle charms. We should all have a friend like Pete in our time of need. And it’s a nice bonus that the documentary included does a pretty good job discussing the situation.

I listened to little snippets of music online and this should be a great surround disc. I ordered it today and it sure did come out of left field, I don't remember the album at all from '77.

Made use of some holiday gift certificates...picked this up at Best Buy (mixed in the "Townshend" section of the CD rack) and am quite enjoying it. Not a big fan of lead vox in the surrounds, but as has been stated here and in the liner notes, it's a gem of an album. I was not familiar with it, and it's great to be formally introduced to it via the wonders of hi-res surround.

The high-end is very flat, which was a very pleasant surprise. Quite a warm-sounding mix. Kudos to Pridden!

If you can't find it at a B&M near you, CDUniverse still has it in stock.
