I guess I thought it was clear we were discussing surround only based on question and the context. But to be clear, everything I mentioned was in terms of the surround versions.

A 5.1 Mix of Meddle was created by Andy Jackson for the Early Years box set, but not included. It's speculated it was not included because Roger Waters rejected it and/or James Guthrie did not mix it.

That's correct. It was removed from the TOC and the disc menu, but fortunately not removed from the disc completely. You need to rip it to hear it.

I wish the 5.1 of Obscured by Clouds was "included by accident, or foul play, unknown" as well. Maybe one day we will get to hear it but I won't hold my breath.

I guess I could have been more precise, but the bottom line is that was supposed to be removed from the initial Early Years release and then it was completely removed from subsequent releases of the Reverber/ation set.

I agree. Sounds to me like another tepid Guthrie mix. The good thing is, the man does have a talent for turning up the sonic quality significantly.

Sounds great! Definitely more pumped now. Not my go to mixer but his mixes have gotten better since DSOTM.

as soon as i saw the word "gimmick" in relation to mixes differing from the style the reviewer says this mix is in i stopped reading the article and closed the page. nothing that reviewer had to say from that point on would hold any interest for me.
