I thought the band's performance was excellent, especially Supper's Ready IMO. Not impressed with the 5.1 mix. Thank goodness we have Steve & Djabe's Live in Gyor. I think that is a fantastic mix.

Oh no, double stereo.o_O It was done by an unknown engineer for me: Chris Lord-Alge??? He doesn't live up to his name...
I will know for sure this week.

Chris, and his brother Tom Lord-Alge are known inside the music industry for crafting their mix with an abundant use of Compression (an audio dynamic control tool)[2] for molding mixes that play well on small speakers and FM radio.

Received mine today and have listened to the first 4 tracks in 5.1. First impressions: video is excellent and sound quality seems very good - very crankable with no harshness and deep, deep bass and all instruments very well represented. Too early to fully evaluate the surround mix, but so far seems very immersive if a bit front heavy - which seems appropriate for a live concert. The 'The Devil's Cathedral' was a standout with strong keyboard runs appearing prominently in the surrounds making everything sound huge. Looking forward to the rest of it - definitely an excellent follow-up to the Selling England at Hammersmith release.

Can you do the same with the STEREO TRACK from the Blu-ray? Thanks.

My Amazon link say’s currently unavailable and only lists as 3 CD, no Blu Ray?
My FOXTROT set arrived TODAY from AmazonUS and it was indeed a 2 RBCD/BD~V set for $17.98. Just checked ImportCD's prices and they want $32 + s/h and it's still listed as a pre order!

Am spinning RBCD 1 and the sound is amazing! Can't wait to fire up the BD~V!

Thank you, Stupy. Very interesting. So, the Stereo Track from the Blu-ray reflects what we all hear in the Youtube videos from InsideOut. Blu-ray look and sound like Chris Lord-Alge nice mix without horrible Mastering by Ted Jensen. No idea why they mastered the CDs...

For me, the big draw on live concert videos is the video footage of the band/artist in action. Sound-only live concerts are never that interesting to me. The video footage on Foxtrot is excellent, with a great mix of wide band/stage shots and ultra clear individual closeups. Definitely better than what you'd see from virtually any seat in the venue. Next in importance is the performance. As with all the Genesis Revisited shows, the technical performance is virtually flawless, giving listeners what amounts to a near studio level run-through of the material. The production/sound quality is also excellent, with every instrument well represented and deep bass present but not overwhelming, and no harshness.

As others have noted, the surround mix is nothing special - there is little or no panning, directionality or specific instrument isolation in the side/rear channels. Rather, it is a mostly ambient mix that does succeed in making the soundstage seem huge. This type of front heavy surround mix is pretty common for live shows, and isn't something I particularly mind as it's probably a pretty good representation of what you'd actually hear in the venue.

We're pretty lucky to have Steve Hackett and his excellent band keep alive the early Genesis material with this level of musicianship and sound quality. Looking forward to the next one in the series - reportedly focusing on the Lamb Lies Down...
