I recommend that Rhino eventually reissue on Blu-Ray Audio the Quad mixes that were released on SACD and are now out of print, like Best of Bread, Muscle of Love, Hearts (America), and Spectrum.Would folks be up in arms about a "Chicago Greatest Hits" Quadio release? I haven't asked ForagingRhino about this, and have no clue as to if Rhino has even thought about it, but I was thinking the other day as I was listening to some Chicago II that it's such a shame so many folks missed out on the box set, and I know there is a possibility it might get repressed, but a single disc Quadio GH, maybe modified to include the album tracks instead of the single tracks, might be a good release for everyone who missed out on the box.
Good idea? Or would that start a large round of complaining about "releasing the same stuff over and over"?
Yes, and especially at the great price points Rhino is giving!I recommend that Rhino eventually reissue on Blu-Ray Audio the Quad mixes that were released on SACD and are now out of print, like Best of Bread, Muscle of Love, Hearts (America), and Spectrum.
I bet many people would purchase them again to get them on Blu-Ray with 192khz 24bit audio
Wouldn't it be delightful as part of Rhino's promise to do some remixing of their own to revisit Tracy Chapman's 1988 debut which includes FAST CAR which, BTW, has exploded on itunes thanks to her Grammy performance with Luke Combs!
The album has always been somewhat of a mini masterpiece and deserves to be heard once again in SURROUND!
On the Elektra label!
And as an added bonus: Include that scintillating duet with Luke Combs!

I have a dub of the “Takin’ It To The Streets” album that is purported to be an unreleased Quad. I have listened to it and analyzed it quite thoroughly, and I think it is either the genuine article or the most cunning fake ever devised by man. If it is real, it would make a stunning release. Are there any Doobie Brothers titles after the Quadio box that could be released in Quad? Any Little Feat titles?
Love to see that released, great album.I have a dub of the “Takin’ It To The Streets” album that is purported to be an unreleased Quad. Clearly haven't made enough money for a platinum coffin yet.It seems the Eagles would rather release yet another hits compilation than get on board with the Quadio program:

A better idea would be a reissue of the box set. I'd be all over that!although i can't help wondering if a more fleshed out more career-spanning Chicago Blu-ray with Atmos mixes as well as Quad might be more fitting.. ..a Quadio of the Greatest Hits compilation is still a great idea! put me down for a copy!
as for "the same stuff" whining, i too wouldn't grumble if Rhino were to do new Quadio Blu-ray's of Billy Cobham's "Spectrum" & "Best Of Bread" at some point as well, those two WEA Quad gems definitely deserve a 2nd go around. i mean, have you seen the prices for the "Spectrum" AF SACD lately!? sheesh!!
This has been discussed several times over the years, most recently here, where it's reported that @ForagingRhino has already looked into it:I have a dub of the “Takin’ It To The Streets” album that is purported to be an unreleased Quad. I have listened to it and analyzed it quite thoroughly, and I think it is either the genuine article or the most cunning fake ever devised by man. If it is real, it would make a stunning release.
“Takin’ It To The Streets” upmixes extremely well with the Tate II (and probably the Surround Master.)I have a dub of the “Takin’ It To The Streets” album that is purported to be an unreleased Quad. Here's a suggestion. Best of Bread volumes 1 & 2. I see that volume 2 was listed as cancelled CNX on that list of WEA titles that's been floating around on this board. The AF one of volume 1 sells for WAY too much these days, so there's likely a demand for it.
This week I was listening to Q8 versions of the Seals & Crofts Quads and thinking how great it would be to have a Seals & Crofts Quadio set just like we got with the Doobies. That would sound great. I'd also love to see the two Eagles quads but I believe there is not support and perhaps Don Henley is the hold-up. I recall he had issue with his voice being isolated.Sadly, Best of #2 was never done. ForagingRhino looked and found nothing.
They could make another Quadio Box out of the Seals & Crofts four Quads.... but.... demand might be sketchy.
It's a shame the first two Eagles were not done. That would've made for an awesome Quadio set that I'm sure even stereo fans would've picked up. Include the 5.1 of Hotel which I don't believe is in-print anymore.
I'm grateful we have somebody over the fence that can dig up and confirm/deny some of the previously unreleased mixes; but it's also disappointing to learn that many of them weren't actually done. I had especially high hopes over the first two Eagles albums. Modern remixing would be OK, but there's just something about a vintage Quad mix - when done properly - that has a better vibe. Even when I remix into modern 4.0; I've rarely been able to catch the lightning that vintage mix has. It's especially aggravating to think somebody could pull off a mix in a night over a pot of coffee while I will pour myself over a mix for weeks and still be unsatisfied. I guess that's why remixing ain't my profession.
Is there a string or place somewhere where we are keeping track of what's actually is said to be available and what we believe is not? .....Because that would be awesome!Sadly, Best of #2 was never done. ForagingRhino looked and found nothing.
Aww, feeling nervous about his performance? He should grow up.perhaps Don Henley is the hold-up. I recall he had issue with his voice being isolated.
