Hello. My name is John Foreman. I have thoroughly enjoyed my incredible quadraphonic set-up since 1974.
Currently I am using a Lafayette SQ-W decoder (full logic, variable blend) coupled with two 200 watt per channel Dynaco ST-400 stereo amps.
I have constructed many proprietary home built speakers - primarily with 1 large woofer and 3 full range drivers (all are 8 ohm - being connected in series-parallel).
Each driver has a dedicated piezoelectric horn tweeter connected in parallel to the driver - to passively draw off upper frequencies from the primary drivers.
These are enclosed in large "acoustic suspension" cabinets and were specifically constructed to be both phase and time coherent designs - with NO crossovers.
I have been looking to hire a highly qualified and experienced serviceperson to "upgrade/refurbish/rebuild/recap" both of my Dynaco amps and the Lafayette decoder.
While these still function - they are fifty years old and are becoming "marginal" in performance - due to old age.
I am also considering purchase of a Surround Master (V3) from Involve Audio - as a possible replacement for my SQ-W decoder.
I also have (but am not using) - 2 Dynaco PAT-4A preamps and a Dokorder 4 channel reel-to-reel tape deck - along with several vintage quad open reel tapes.
Lastly, I am an environmental research scientist with extraordinary experience and an awesome number of world-class projects - recognized by many as "peerless".
I am happily married and WE constructed a fully passive solar superhouse in 2002 - ICF walls - superinsulated - major thermal mass - solar PV panels - water collection.
I have an extraordinary athletic background (the good old days) - AND - I have over fifty (50) years of intensive community service benefitting area youth athletes.
Being that it nearly Christmas (2024) - I hope everyone has a very good Christmas holiday and a Happy New Year. Love QUADRAPHONIC music. >> John
