I remember first hearing his comic routines as a kid. My folks played cards sometimes with a couple who had a copy of The Button-Down Mind of Bob Newhart LP. Thought it was very funny stuff even though I didn't understand all of it at my age. I've always loved his dry humor. RIP Bob.

I'd never heard Bob's stand up routines from his younger years until just now since he passed. He certainly was a clever comedian.
 
Caught Newhart's standup perhaps 14 years ago at the Hemmens in Elgin, IL.

Also caught Rickles live at the Golden Nugget in Las Vegas.

Newhart's beloved wife Ginny was the Daughter of actor Bill Quinn. Quinn had numerous roles in both TV and movies. He was the recurring character of Dr. Melnitz on the Odd Couple TV show w/Randall & Klugman.
