Shocked to find out that not only are Chubby Checker and Joe Cocker not in already, but they've never even been nominated before. WTF?

And the circus begins again…

  • Maná
! That's interesting -- how many all-Spanish lyrics R&RHoF winners are there? Shakira next?

Los Lobos need to be inducted first.

I think it's good that the Hall recognize that rock music and influential rock musician aren't always English speaking. I say that as someone who has heard of Maná, but not their music.

I honestly have no idea what the criteria are for making it into the hall. Rock? Nope. Famous? Not always. Influential? Hard to tell. Seriously, if anyone has a clue, let me in on it. I guess at the end of the day, the induction ceremony is usually enjoyable, even if my rock hall would look very different.

Where is King Crimson? This is currently the biggest snub year after year. They have such a huge influence and are considered the pioneer of the first Prog Rock album. IMO, that honor would go to The Moody Blues - Days of Future Passed to be the first.

The rock hall has a long history of being anti-prog. Rush, for example, only got in due to fan vote if I recall.

I'm well aware of their anti-prog rock bias. The band Yes recently got in as well. Which makes it possible for a prog band to get in. Jethro Tull is another huge snub as well.

I believe Los Lobos holds the record of being the oldest still performing group with all original members.

? Not positive but I don't think that Steve Berlin (keyboards & Sax) started working with them until 1982 and became a full timer on the second album (the awesome 'How Will the Wolf Survive") in 1984.

If you exclude the temp drummer they used for the Sphere run in LV - U2 has not seen a line-up change. Formed in 1976.

And if Dusty didn't die - ZZ Top would have them beat with 1969.

Impressive runs by all.

Mana is fantastic. Like Rush in musicianship, but more popular (across Latin America) and could do ballads. Totally support this pick.

Agreed. And still no Jethro Tull, Styx, Boston…

They pick a bunch of popular artists from all genres, put their names on a huge wheel, and spin it 6 to 8 times. That's your next class.
