I didn't see anything new in that link you posted, or did I miss information about Chycki?

The "UPDATE" was from that article/blog. Guy claims he was told it was Chycki. I have no idea if it's factual, just passed the info along.

I'm sticking with the $92 order...it's not like I haven't been disappointed by other Rush music releases...it's only moneyo_O
It's not like the disappointment level of a Rush release will ever match the disappointment mountain you've already scaled with Zeppelin. Go for it.

I'm not gonna buy this. My media budget is limited and I gotta draw the line someplace. And buying vinyl is my line. In spite of the fact that I am fully vinyl capable and the vinyl rig I have is high quality vintage. I would just never play the LPs and have a problem storing them.

The Imagine set just a week old, I got what looks like a hideously expensive Beatles WA coming up, the Tull release, the Hendrix, and the Floyd. Hell I'm still lusting after stuff I don't have like the Guns n' Roses.

LMQ, I'm sure you'll find exceptional warehouse deals down the road since these sets are not going to be pressed in THAT limited of a quantity.

Meanwhile, I'm reveling in my recent D~V purchase: 7 simply amazing 70's RARE QUAD SACDs, expertly mastered/replicated for under $80! No Books, NO Vinyl and little fanfare!

Some would QUIP: WHY compare? My reply: Why NOT?

I wouldn't be surprised to see the price come way down in a few months. I still might bite if the new mix is a big improvement on previous mixes by Richie C. (Sunday, Monday, Happy Days... Ready to race to U :cool:(y))

I think they are going to get cancellations and amazon does employ the knee jerk reaction business model...a large portion of the people that would be interested in this title are aware or will become aware that Steven Wilson didn't do the mix and that will affect the sales along with the dreaded LPs that few want or could use...I don't think that is the last price drop..

I know I'm being a bit presumptuous, but if down the road Steve Wilson, who's a fan of Hemispheres, does become available, will RUSH release another 5.1 remix bearing Wilson's imprimatur? And as edisonbaggins [Mike] has pointed out, Have the actual multitracks been located or will these be partial upmixes?

IMO, WAY more questions than answers regarding this release.

I can't answer the multitracks question.... but if their past actions mean anything.....they have done surround re-issues before...on the Farewell to Kings...just the reverse situation...the standalone came first...

Well, this news only answers the who, not necessarily the how or when. Did Rich C. mix this back when he did FBN, AFtK & Signals? If so, why did each Sectors set only get 1 DVD-A?
Were the Hemispheres multis used? Do they still exist? If not, did he use Penteo or another similar tool to upmix? Did he mix it recently? If so, welcome back to the Rush fold, Rich!
I remain cautiously hopeful!

Mike, I am ultra curious as well when this album was actually mixed and shape of multi's. As we know from other albums(Fleetwood Mac,Van Morisson, etc) that were mixed in early 2000's only to see light of day many years after.

Rush, AFAIK, never released any 5.1 albums during that period. These are all 'relatively' new remixes.

Well the Sector boxes came out in 2011 so it is possible this Hemispheres mix could have been done then already or maybe it was just done this year, just spit balling as have no proof either way AFAIK.
The comparison to some older mix's was just an example that mix's are sometimes done may years in advance as I know from reading about Bob Clearmountain he said he did surround mix's for many of the albums he worked on at same time as doing a stereo mix for the bands he recorded for only to see many of these mix's collect dust as I'm sure ES has many surround mix's just collecting dust as well.

Well...we have a little movement on the price....now $128.24

Everybody that ordered at the full price above the 128 please check your order..........Snood's order of the orignal full 158 plus price did not automatically decrease to the current 128 price - so Snood canceled and reordered at the new 128 price - very weird that it did not update, so check it out
