R.I.P. Gus Grissom. He later perished with 2 others during the Apollo program.footage from the manned Mercury program. Hmmm. But I'm sure it was accepted as very futuristic and cool at the time.

Leave your Koi alone! Madman across the water. The only lake effect I need is to be sitting by one, casting a line.
I'm sorry. I will need to sign up for a remedial Internet posting class.that's Bursting Scottie
socket, not sprocket....
Elsewhere in the Show Us your Gear thread @MidiMagic posted a pic of a really cool DIY Theremin. He mentioned he has learned to play a few songs including Telstar. One of my faves from so long ago. I didn't want to derail that thread any further but I just found The Tornados did a Scopitone film for that song:
I think it's fun. Big oddity tho... The Telstar's were communication satellites. This film is intercut with what looks like footage from the manned Mercury program. Hmmm. But I'm sure it was accepted as very futuristic and cool at the time.
Put on your Boots
You're never wrong.
Falling snowAhhh Lake Effect. Mrs Lake Michigan. Where we are located we have had a snow stream stuck over us since last night due to wind direction. We've gotten an easy foot of snow but we can drive 4 miles to the NorthEast and they have a couple of inches. Its all in the location and the (bad) luck

I'm too old to keep up with all the local laws, but this one just caught my eye. Can you imagine one of these Amsterdam style cannabis lounges with a café and high quality Atmos/Quad surround sound system.
When you invite us over we will already have consumed. Plus we will bring some cold snacks. lol.Sorry, but smoking anything in my room will get you booted. Actually anywhere in the house.
I have a porch and a couple of patios if you must.
Not a boot. No boots needed here with no snow hanging around. GO Lions!Put on your Boots
I have the same problem...I have so much stuff to repair and in the process of setting up a small recording studio for my wife and I.....and not counting the things I have to do around the house...this is going to be a very, very busy year for sure.....A few of the tapes are home movies, but most are TV shows. I haven’t checked in a couple of years, but when Imdid, the shows wereen’t available commercially.
Yes, a tape will undoubtedly play best on the deck that recorded it. A lot of adjustments for cross-compatibility could be a bit off, but the deck will still put signals down on the tape, albeit not exactly where the spec says they belong. I think I’m still reasonably capable of aligning a VHS (or Beta, or U-matic) deck, but I might have to do some fiddling with control track electronics if that project ever gets close to the top of the list.
It’s incredible how much stuff I have to do now that I’m retired.
I found this pic of the Telstar 1 satellite.
