Rub it in Gene. It's 22 F here and very windy.
I froze. And then froze again. Twice frozen. Did I say I froze yet?
(In case anyone who lives up north comes bragging about their sub-zero temps, I get it, your place is colder. My condolences. I'm still frozen.)

You can have either eARC or Ethernet but not both at the same time. eARC uses the same pair in the cable that was originally allocated to Ethernet. In practice I'm not aware of any equipment that actually runs Ethernet over HDMI.
Wow. That's good to know. Although for the current tv in the audio room I'm using HDMI and wifi. I don't use eARC though.

I believe we got just below freezing last night. I know yesterday's high was around 44 best I could tell, and windy as hell in the morning.
Not ideal short pants weather.

That's because we're old Boonie. The boys around here wear shorts all the time, even in the winter cold. I expect they'd try to scale Mt. Everest in shorts. LOL

For sure. Well I've worn sweats I think 3 times so far this winter, all the other days shorts. But I mean days here in winter usually get up in the 40-50's so not killer cold to me unless it's windy.
Would def prefer 60's. lol.

OK I lied. I would prefer 70's.

Looking out my balcony in Palm Springs CALIFORNIA.
Having to be in California, you are lucky you don't have this view....

Lucky you.

Admittedly, that was something I’d read about, but never did. Those cables still carry a remarkable amount of information, though.

Well, yesterday I got the cable pulled and the return dropped off. I hope this one lasts longer than the fiber cable did. It all seems OK, although the new cable is a lot stiffer than the fiber one, and the mass of cables behind my pre-pro won’t let the shelf slide all the way back. It’s only about 1/4”, but I notice it.

I also ran the Audessy setup, and it made the back speakers come alive for “Netherworld.” My bad for complaining.
