It looks like these are from the "Live in Japan" disc they made in 2000, I'm guessing it's lower-res digital.Came across this 'curious' disclaimer on the Argerich Chopin set [5 CDs/1 BD~A]. The BD~A contains the entirety of CDs 1~4 but excludes on the BD~A the recordings with cellist Mischa Maisky 'for reasons of audio quality.' Hmmmm!
For a live recording from then? I'd be surprised if it was more than 24/48. I don't think 96 became standard until a fair bit later and wouldn't be shocked if it was live using the venue's system.
I’m not sure if this has been mentioned here, but I came across this release of Beethoven‘s Symphony No.6 from Pure Audio Recordings. It’s a bit expensive for one symphony, so I am wondering if it’ll have a discrete surround mix to go along with the video. Wishful thinking, perhaps.
I saw that. I was just wondering if it was going to be immersive à la TACET or an ambience only surround mix. Pure Audio has done some aggressive surround mixes, so this one made stop and wonder. But I probably won’t be taking the plunge at that price.
