Happoshu is a beer-like beverage that has a malt content of less than 2/3(around 67%), whereas beer has a malt content of over 2/3. Happoshu is cheaper than beer due to Japan’s tax on alcohol; the higher the malt content, the higher the tax is. There is also a factor in the ingredients that are used; malt is considerably more expensive than the corn, soy beans, and starch which are used in happoshu. There is also a beer-like beverage called daisan-no-biiru which is even cheaper than happoshu.

I won't but I was not surprised to see it used as an adjunct.

Honestly, this one is dreadful.
I couldn’t finish it and that is a very rare occurence,

There is no world where I would call a 15 IBU an IPA. I am not surprised you did not care for it.
And yes, I realize that BU:GU can be a more useful metric than IBU in what to expect but a hazy IPA should clock in between 25-60 IBU.

maybe the majority of the hops were added as it was cooling ? ( less than 180 degrees )

And, the can says "strong beer" lmao I can imagine what that beer tastes like.
