I wonder if I can get Goosehead IPA in Montreal? In one way hopefully not, in another way yes, great!
Why? well I discovered that when I went to check-in on line this morning, that the companies travel agents have for my flight to Munich got me a waiting list ticket, so no guaranteed seat until boarding  !!!!
But bizarrely my connecting flight from Munich to Tel Aviv is guaranteed, aargh!
 I wonder what they have booked me for my flight home to the UK..... stuck to the wing with gaffer tape?
If it goes awry I'll demand a crate of Goose IPA as compensation.
Well I was lucky when I got to the check-in desk in Montreal they said I had a seat they just didn't know which one, and I'll let the travel agent off (its not the first time!) as they'd booked me Premium Economy (i.e. much better seats than my usual Scum Class Economy and a bit more room), so I'm now in Tel Aviv at +7hrs to Canada and about +18degC to it as well, I may have a beer!

Sharing again - La Cumbre (Abq, NM) and Beachwood (Long Beach, CA) "Endless Horizon tropical stout (7.9% abv, 35 ibu).

Wow a King Crimson Ale!

Yeah, it's a good one too, enjoyed it a lot when we went to the brewery in Sedona a couple years back. As soon as I saw the glassware there was never any question about leaving without a couple.

Now, sharing a crowler we got a couple weeks back from Truth or Consequences Brewing - "Monticello" green chile amber ale (5.9% abv, 19 ibu) . Since T or C is just a few miles up the road from Hatch it's just natural for them to do a chile brew. This one is nice - it's not about the heat but the flavor.

Think Stella in terms of style. But, totally BLOWS Stella clear off the map with depth of flavor, body, grainy flavor, superior head retention. Very nice brew from local brewer in Champaign. Triptych

Drinking homebrewed Belgian Strong Dark and listening to Mike Oldfield's Five Miles Out 5.1 DTS on DVD that I scored for $12 used this week.
Yes the name is an homage to North Coast Brother Thelonious using Allen Toussaint who passed while we were working on the recipe and name.

I'll have to swing my Binny's and see if they carry Ex Novo....sounds like they have a nice selection of quality brews.
Not sure if Ex Novo is distributed that far yet - their brewery here has only been open since summer and the other is up in Portland. Seems that they are doing very well so far according to this interview so maybe wider distribution is something for them to think about.

What struck me (after drinking the Goosehead IPA in Ottawa!) was how strong the US IPAs are in comparison to the ones we have here in the UK, which are typically around 3%-4% in strength.

A
I wouldn’t know what to do with a 4% IPA!
Generally anything called an IPA that’s that low in abv gets called a “session” IPA...I’d have to look up what exact threshold they use for session vs ipa vs dbl/imperial.

The Indian Pale Ales were originally brewed in the UK to survive the sea voyage to India. Maybe that is why they were brewed weaker? and also no longer fermenting in the cask.
