Please post your thoughts and comments on this new reissue of the album "Into the Gap" by the Thompson Twins.
This new reissue on Blu-ray Audio disc is exclusive to the SDE online store and contains new remixes of the album in Dolby Atmos and 5.1 surround from mixing engineer David Kosten.

I'm going with a "9" on this one. Would be a definite '10" for me, if it wasn't for the missing vocals on the 5.1 of Doctor! Doctor!.

I love the mix that David Kosten made for this release. I can listen to the 7.1 Atmos mix downmixed for my system to 5.1. Very clean, punchy, crankable and like I said, loving the mix! Lot of vocals and bass that stands out from the center. Little to no LFE content on this one. I don't typically listen to the instrumental versions, so no big deal for me.

Would like to know more about the speaker drop-out (and how long is the drop-out) on which song exactly, must have missed that part somehow? I've only played it all the way through once myself.
Don't these SDE BD's get some kind of play testing for these kind of errors?

*edit- also, I had no trouble with my slip case fitting over the main case.

I love 80's music, so this is a welcomed disc. Too bad they mistakenly put the instrumental mix of Doctor! Doctor! in both the instrumental section and 5.1 with vocal section otherwise it would be a 10 for me. I would be cool with just a download of the two tracks that need to be fixed.

Such a great album. Really takes me back to good, good times. And recorded so marvelously. A perfect candidate for surround and the mix does not dissapoint.

Listening to the Atmos “folded down” to 5.1 due to the missing vocals on “Doctor Doctor”. It sounds great, and I don’t know if the 5.1 would ultimately be better. I’m happy with listening to it this way.

Still, such a glaring error is unacceptable so I have to take off a point for that.

“9”

I didn't even notice the lack of vocals in the 5.1 version of Doctor Doctor. I can honestly say I've never listened to an Atmos disc in anything other than Atmos.

Doctor Doctor issues aside, it's a nice mix. As others have said, the original was really well recorded. For me, the bonus is that the songs are pretty good too. I was not a big TT fan at the time, apart from trying to imitate the really high call-and-response "Hold me now" in that song in a comical way as a kid (something which has continued to the present). Not every song here is a banger, but they're generally pleasant and palatable. Packaging is pretty nice too, so it's good for the price. Much like the Howard Jones discs, this puts me in a nice retro place.

Hi. Apparently, while USPS was "holding my mail," this package was either lost or (probably more likely) stolen. And I see they're out of print now at SDE, so I can't order a new one... are there any plans to reissue these?
