Yes, while I will be getting this - I am amazing at the love for XTC and or this album. The band was a non issue in central IL. Heck, I'd never really heard of them till I joined this forum....

So, let me ask - what gives about this band? Did all you guys really love them...have their LP's and or CD's...play them all the time? I'd love to understand...
This post is not suggesting anything about the band...I'm truly clueless....

Coming from just outside of Simpleton (Swindon), I have been well aware of XTC for a long time, I wore out my 7” of senses working overtime in my youth, and when I started buying music they were always there. Funnily enough though I never owned much on vinyl but on CD from very early.
There was also a Local TV show RPM which first showed the video for 'Mole from the Ministry' by the Dukes .. and also had Andy P doing a tour of both of Swindon's highlights (XTC apart its a bit of a cultural desert)
They are one of those bands that I forget about and when I go back to them I always wonder why I don't listen more often.
I like all of their music and love that they never set in one genre, from 'spiky' pop to 'prog'.

Ah, come on - you guys have the Magic Roundabout!

Designed to strike fear into every American, It was a treat taking the Americans to see it when I worked for Motorola.

The same Americans who wondered why the Queen Build Windsor Castle so close to the M4 Motorway, Happy days indeed !!

From a new Jakko interview on the Jethro Tull Group:

If you could what would be your choice of any album by any artist you could remix?

You mean the ones Steve Wilson hasn't already mixed, or is about to?!!
Well, stuff that's left that I'd love to do would have little commercial value as 5.1 mixes, so I doubt anyone would get to do them even for free! but top of that list would be 'Legend' by Henry Cow and 'Pawn Hearts' by Van Der Graff Generator. Some Joni Mitchell or Zappa, neither of which will happen. XTC's Sky Larking, which Steve is about to do. The first Hatfield and the North Album Some Gentle Giant!! Tears For Fears 'Sowing The Seeds "There's a fair list once I start thinking about it.

Awesome \o/ Skylarking

Thank You Blue

Oh goodness!

If they really did find the "Skylarking" tapes and SW is remixing it, then all I can say in response to that is:

THANK YOU, SWEET BABY JESUS! ;)

Hope Andy Partridge can confirm on his Twitter pretty soon. He hasn't tweeted hardly anything at all this past week.
Now here's to them hopefully finding all of the tapes for "Black Sea", "English Settlement", "Mummer", and "The Big Express" too! Hope Springs Eternal! :)

This would be just about right for a 30th anniversary reissue...

Dear God, that is just frightening. Slow down, time!

Hmm, don't want to rain on your parade(s), but what I think Jakko meant was that he'd like to remix Skylarking, but Steven is scheduled to do it instead... when and if they find the tapes.
I didn't hear anything new concerning these missing tapes, I'm sorry to say.

I understand your skepticism as I had (and still have) a healthy dose of it when Eric posted that link with the relevant paragraph, but at the same time, I am also skeptical that Jakko would be that careless with his words, basically saying that the "Skylarking" remix is imminent when it's not.
When I see that Andy is responding to tweets again, I'll be sure to ask him about all of this. He'll know for sure...

The bad news is that tapes still appear to be missing for "Go 2", "Black Sea", and "English Settlement".
I've asked if the same applies to "Mummer" and "The Big Express". Hope not!

Sometimes, I wonder if the powers that be aren't building excitement here? I say this because, why would you put out a series of surround titles called "The Surround Sound Series" if you had no intention of doing the complete series? Don't we have enough excitement alone from any of the CTC albums being released in surround anyway? (y)

These stories do seem a bit incredible sometimes, but lord knows there have been many verified examples out there over the years of an appalling lack of oversight & care for these priceless master tapes. To me this particular drama seems sadly plausible.
