So what are you opinions of that CD?...You must not think much of it as you were surprised the DR numbers were good....fess up pup...give me the scoop😁
Just like I said earlier, "But I always thought it was a little hazy of a recording, even on the LP." I think the performance is brilliant, but the recording may just be a little muddy (shades of "Layla") 😬 Let me know what you think of the sound; just hope you enjoy the music.

That's often the case with early Jeff Beck..so I'll be prepared(y)

I've been going nuts the last month or so on these Eric Records releases with several more on the way the next couple of weeks:

Highly recommended for audio quality including balanced EQ and excellent dynamic range.

Does it say who remastered these classics....you've got it all covered...50's...60s...70s...80s....way to go(y)

Clint, I know Gene uses a DR plug-in in Foobar2000 for DR, do you have an app for that? And that Dave Mason two-fer looks like a nice one. Also noticed the numbers are lower on the first album "It's Like You Never Left" than his self titled. But like you've said, the mastering may play a part in how they'll sound also.

I don't have the app...I use the database ...you have to keep in mind that the DR is just one factor...a lot of these older recordings were bad from the inception..and the best mastering can't fix that....the equipment used...the facilities used... weren't always the best..

Keep in mind that having Foobar wouldn't really help me...you have to have the disc for that to work...I use the website prior to my purchase

I know that Mark Matthews and a few others are mentioned as mastering engineers in several of the discs. I'll check on this particular volume when I return home.

I can tell you that I've only had three songs out of the total lot on 24 discs where I had to apply any sort of equalization: Easy Lover, I Got Rhythm and Johnny Angel. Otherwise everything is very well balanced.

This was a curiosity purchase...this was early on for David..up until this point he had been "Davie" Jones with the King Bees...and "Davy" Jones and the Lower Third....The Mannish Boys...he was a relative unknown....this recording is in Mono....mastered by Steve Hoffman....I'm not expecting any sonic miracles...just want to hear him in the early days...

My motivation for buying this was to get the best possible version of one of my all time favorite songs...Journey to the center of the mind....I've tried before..and failed... and I've heard from friends that this song was just recorded poorly and there really isn't a good version...so I'm trying this time with Steve Hoffman mastering...he won't be able to fix problems with the original recording...but he won't make things worse either...so I can finally find out if it's just a bad recording...

I don't have that particular disc that you've asked about: Hard To Find 45s on CD Volume 10. I can tell you that the other discs I own show mastering by Tom Daly, Mark Matthews and Walt Weiskopf or a combination thereof. Matthews and Weiskopf did the later discs without Daly. These CDs from this boutique lable are highly recommended for pop music lovers. I've got a few more coming in the mail today including the complete instrumentals of 1961. Back in the day, I only wanted to listen to instrumentals.
