My favorite Edgar Winter Group quad. We used to play this in quad in my car full blast at 4 in the morning while driving to the lake to go fishing. We rarely caught fish though. I think they heard us coming.

I love that story! Thanks for sharing :)

Just occurred to me you can take the album track titles to summarize your late night fishing trip tales!

"River Risin'" scared the "Animal" at "Sundown"..! :yikes

Together at last! Deodato and Airto In Concert, SQ LP CTSQ 6041. The quad mix here is very much on the stage and is quite dry considering it's a live recording. Bob James providing musical supervision and arranging duties. I like this, it's not an expensive record to locate and if you like the CTI quads of these guys on their own then this will not disappoint. It's fairly active mix and in terms of sound quality, it's pretty good, 'Tropea' being classic Bob James arranging with a swaggering presence and sublime strings in the rears - every instrument rings clear whilst the hot guitar solo from John Tropea soaring skyward whilst devil horns rage from the side walls. The congas breakout so nicely to the rear left that I challenge you not to bob your head and tap your foot. Effortlessly cool.

Deodato/Airto is a great listen musically. Sadly, they don't perform together, although the album title would lead you to believe that they do.

IMHO, Fingers is a better Quad, musically and mix-wise. I have that and In Concert on SQ LP and Japan CD.

Airto autographed several of my LP's when I studied percussion with him in the early 80's. Up to that point his favorite album was Identity, released by Arista in 2ch only. Sadly, this wasn't one he autographed., although my LP copy of Identity was.

I am loving this. It sounds amazingly discrete. It has heavy vinyl like 60's ABC discs from North America. I only complain about the like crackle of a loved piece of vinyl. Perhaps after a wet cleaning it will improve, but come on, it's B.B. King, I just couldn't wait to hear it. It is better than the greatest hits LP for quad separation and this version of The Thrill Is Gone is killer!

Festival - Santana (SQ LP; Israeli Pressing).

Is this a one off?

As you can see it's the more "Modern" CBS logo and gradiated orange label on an SQ Quadraphonic LP! :yikes

I got this as an SQ LP new release. Unlike the earlier Quads except Amigos, it has a poor mix.

Coincidentally, I finished listening to my SQ LP of Caravanserai about a half hour ago.

Thank you for all the great info as always Linda! :)

I hear you on the poor mix front...b-b-but just look at that nifty label on a Quad record! :yikes

It's almost worth having a crappy mix for that cooooool CBS logo I remember from the label on the Guilty LP back when my mum and dad were doing their best Barry & Barbra impersonation with lion mane-like tresses, poodle perm in an orgy of cream sweaters and white silk satin! It oughta be illegal...
