I wish they'd go 3-channel whenever masters like that are available. It makes such a difference having things isolated in the center speaker, whether it's Nat King Cole or Sam Cooke's voices, or Miles Davis' trumpet, and also removes a generation of tape hiss as well by bypassing the stereo mixdown stage. There's so much music from the 50's and 60's that would benefit from this approach.

+1..I'm a believer after the Nat King Cole SACD's...superb and natural sound...it certainly highlights the vocals...in a good way..

Blood, Sweat & Tears (II) arrived a couple weeks ago. Best of Bread & Guess Who are on their way. Once again, thanks to my guy Joe.

These are three of my favorite Quads, musically and mix-wise. BS&T (II) is in my top 10 albums in any configuration.

From Wishes To Eternity Live - Nightwish (Hybrid MultiCh SACD).

I was able to land a used copy of the Kamakiriad DVD-A on eBay for $30. I have been watching for it for a long time and finally got it at a great price. Enjoying the great use of surround channels.

Silverline - inside the music WomenOnTop (DVDA).

One of my dreams came true... well at least partially. :)

I found the song "Words" by Missing Persons in 5.1 on Silverline - Inside the Music WomenOnTop DVDA. It's only one song of theirs, but better than nothing. And...they rock in surround...just as I knew they would.

Silverline's DVDAs don't have the best reputation, but this collection of female pop/rock songs mostly from the 80s is one of their better efforts in surround sound. Other songs that shine in 5.1 are Pat Benatar - We Belong, Kim Carnes - Bette Davis Eyes, Katrina and The Waves - Walking On Sunshine, Wilson Phillips - Hold On, and Ike & Tina Turner - Nutbush City Limits.

The one disappointment was Blondie - Heart of Glass... one of my favorite Blondie songs. I really had high hopes for this one. But...it's a bit front heavy, especially on the bass. Rears channels are active, but something isn't quite right with the balance.

Anyway...Listening to this DVDA makes me burn for all of Missing Persons - Spring Session M in 5.1. I'd also love some more Pat Benatar in surround. I never expected her to sound this good in surround. And... of course a proper 5.1 mix of Blondie would be awesome.

Spring Session M?? One of my all time favorites. Everytime I ask someone if they've heard of Missing Persons, they look at my with a puzzled look. Are the other "Inside The Music" DVD-A's any good?

Oh man! One of my all time favs as well! :brew

I was so happy to find this DVDA...and cheap! But...on first listening, I wasn't sure if I liked the surround mix of Words, especially after Pat Benatar and others sounded so good. And my expectations were SO HIGH!! Perhaps the rears need a little more action. But when I listened to Words again...CRANKED and it all came together. Unfortunately, even when I crank the volume on Blondie the front simply overpowers the rears. Oh well... whatcha gonna do?

Anyway I am tickled pink to have Dale Bozzio in surround! I hope you will be, too.

These are for you...

I just ordered this based on your review. I hope I like it! :)

I just saw that Destination Unknown is on Silverline - Inside the Music New Wave (DVDA).

One reviewer on Amazon didn't seem to like it or the Billy Idol mix. But... I can't resist Dale. I just ordered it. Fingers crossed!

I think you'll like the New Wave disc. I think the mixes of the tracks on there are pretty decent, and you're not going to find better presentations of the Blondie and Missing Persons tunes included on it. Probably the standouts for me are The Knack - My Sharona and The Tubes - She's A Beauty. Pretty nice mixes on those, in my opinion, and I just put a lot of value in having all these songs in more than stereo with the advanced resolution. Hope you didn't get soaked on the price, though...

Received a copy of Howard Jones' in Engage. I was really thrilled to find out that he actually signed the DVD CD combo set. Pretty cool deal. I'll give a review after I get a chance to listen to it.

He did this via a crowd funding initiative. I am secretly hoping this might open the door of him making 5.1 mixes of his earlier stuff, one way or another. Still awesome to get some new music in 5.1.

Happily, I found a seller with his feet on the ground and a reasonable asking price. New Wave is on its way. Thanks for the review. Looking forward to it!

I still can't believe there are some Missing Persons songs in 5.1. I am also surprised at the SQ of some of these Silverline DVDAs. I am listening to Wilson Phillips - Hold On as I write. This is pretty darn good. The major complaint I have is that the sound levels vary from track to track. Most tracks are good, but then comes Juice Newton - Queen of Hearts at a much higher level with heavy bass. I supposed I could just adjust my system, but it would make for a much more enjoyable listening experience to have everything better balanced.
