You're kidding, right? I mean I honestly wouldn't think that anyone would request the Beatles in surround anymore after all of that disappointment with "1+" and it doesn't look like there's going to be a change in the surround sound production and engineering team over at Apple anytime soon…
As for "Surf's Up", didn't someone say on here that it was mixed in 5.1 then canned back in the day?

Actually it would be smashing. Giles did an interview and basically apologized for the surround mix of 1. He was trying to be faithful to the original mono recording. He said if he had a chance to do The White Album he would do a much more adventurous mix.

"Ultimately, he would have liked to be more inventive with the surround mixes but had to "rein myself in, because these are the Beatles number one hits". "If I was doing a 5.1 of the White Album, though? Let me at it!"

I think if he would mix Sgt Pepper it would be fantastic.

Sorry, but IMO, that's such a bullshit answer from Giles Martin. I'll expand on his statements in this interview a little later on when I have the time to do so, but overall, I think his approach to the Beatles in surround as showcased by releases like "1+" and "Magical Mystery Tour" is an abomination and is a disgrace to those who do know how to respect the original sound and balances of an album while creating an immersive and discrete mix.

Thank you for putting into words how I feel about Beatles in surround. I know, I'm sounding a bit melodramatic here but the powers to be at Apple Corps have been jerking us around on the surround thing for so long I'm sure by now they are all having a good laugh (cue music...fade in...ending to Within You Without You).

Sooo, WHAT THE HELL HAPPENNED WITH THE BEATLES 1+ SURROUND MIXES??
The LOVE mixes were REALLY what it was all about!!!
EMI felt the need to f*ck with them?

9) ROXY MUSIC - Where oh where are those reissues, Universal?! I'm already sick to death waiting for them, so please let 2016 finally be the year that we get to hear "Roxy Music" and hopefully more in surround!
)

man Ladytron in 5.1 I'm going a little bit crazy waiting for that to be released, bring on the glam

Brian Wilson would need 5 more ears to approve any 5.1 mix.

EMI has been inactive and defunct since the end of 2012, so they definitely are not responsible for anything that the Beatles have released since the beginning of 2013 and beyond. That's all handled by Apple Records in conjunction with Universal.
Plus, there's no way that they could have used the LOVE surround mixes for this release as LOVE doesn't mirror the master recordings as they were originally released. However, more discrete and immersive surround mixes like the ones found on "Help!", "Yellow Submarine", and the Anthology DVDs should have been how most of the songs should have been mixed in surround for "1+" instead of the largely half-assed effort we were presented…

You're not going as crazy as I am, and it's mostly due to the extended "Ladytron" 10" vinyl that was released along with the promised release of the "Roxy Music" Super Deluxe Edition in the Fall that fell through that's got me going cuckoo (for cocoa puffs!) ;)

Is it confirmed that there will be surround content on this? (Neil Young Archives). I don't have volume 1, but thought it had minimal surround content.

I've not seen any surround on these discs. It's all hi-res stereo. (I'd love to be told I've missed something though!)

I found this thread while searching for 'Canned Heat'. Wondering if there's any chance of getting any surround release, hits or on an AF compilation SACD maybe?

New Haken album Affinity due next month, new Rival Sons album Hollow Bones coming June 10th. Also believe another Pineapple Thief album is due later in the year too.

It's been very quiet so far this year for 5.1 music.
Is it the end of BluRay pure audio? SACDs in 5.1 are also quiet.

Maybe we will get some news soon on new music coming in 5.1

I personally think it's a bit too early to say that this year will definitely be any better than any of the previous years, but there should be no doubt at all that this year is already turning out to be a superb year, mostly thanks to the amazing efforts of labels like Audio Fidelity and Esoteric.
What will really determine this year for me personally is what we end up getting that's new on the Steven Wilson Remixes front. If it can top 2014 (which had two titles from both Yes and Jethro Tull, along with "Drums & Wires", "The Power and the Glory", and "Songs from the Big Chair") that's when I'll crown 2016 best surround year, but until then, I'm gonna just sit back and enjoy all of the good stuff that definitely is coming. Cheers! :)

Well, I was going by Haikubass's excellent lists. According to those; in 2013, 2014 and 2015 we had 39, 50 and 70 respectively. We're just over three months into 2016 and we already had or know about 36 releases. I know of at least another four, maybe even five that haven't been announced yet.

I'm actually more interested in what people other than Steven Wilson are doing. I love his work and will buy it all, but he's only one man and the format needs to be bigger than that if the resurgence we've seen is going to be sustained.

It's all good, though! :)
