Quad was a thing for about 10 years, most of the 70's really but the peak years were c.73-75.I see lot's of wishes for groups but I'm guessing as Quad was only a thing for maybe 2 years that most of the groups at that time had no more the 1 or 2 albums they did in Quad?
...Rhino...
Until then, they will not see another dime out of me!
I assume you tried a different browser? That was what did the trick for many folks.Well, I just went to Rhino's site today to order a recent vinyl release, and after much time and many attempts, cannot get the site to accept the order.
It seems some things never change.
This is hardly my first problem purchasing through Rhino, and from what I've seen and heard, this was nothing new.
All the past issues, all the issues we had ordering the last batch, and now today I can't even get an order in just demonstrates how completely and utterly out of touch Rhino has become!
At this point, there really is no excuse. Rhino cannot possibly be unaware of the issues and problems their paying customers are having, there have been more than enough complaints raised directly to the company over months/years. And yet, nothing has changed. This leaves me with only one possible conclusion - THEY DO NOT CARE!
They do not care about their customers.
They do not care if you get your order or not.
They don't even care if their website works adequately to take everyone's order.
I'm sorry - I love the products. I want these new discs, even though I don't even know what they will be yet. But I cannot say one good thing about this company until they find a way to redeem themselves, and demonstrate they care, and have taken measures to fix these glaring issues.
Until then, they will not see another dime out of me!
As a very young kid I wanted a quad system and could not have one. Even when quad was fading out and the Q8s were appearing in the cutout bins and used market, the quad deck, amp and additional speakers was just a bridge to far.Myself, I'm taking my chances because the payback is enormous.
As a very young kid I wanted a quad system and could not have one. ---- So I was playing quad tapes listening to only the front channels, and then listening to the rears after that to get an idea what I should be hearing. That is really pathetic, and a bit sad.
As as a kid, with no money for recording gear, I had dismantled a headphone to use it as microphone. And then I would record on a small mono tape recorder, and placed a bit of cardbox over the eraser head to record over previously recorded takesDon't feel so bad. As a penniless high schooler when I got into Quad in the nineties.... I had nothing more than a Panasonic Q8 deck, plugged into two completely different stereo receivers, and since I had NO money for speakers, I was using a large pair of "can" type headphones for the "front" channels, and another, smaller.... walkman style set of headphones for the "rear" channels all stuck to my head. It was Live, It was Memorex, but was it Quad? It would be a few more years before my old man would commit suicide and I would "inherit" the princely sum of $40,000 that I would actually invest money into a true, fully vintage Quad system.
It can be cache or cookies issues. Switching to Incognito mode in the browser can help with those.I assume you tried a different browser? That was what did the trick for many folks.
I had two microphones I used as a set of headphones, and they sounded pretty fine too. I still have them in an electronic junk box. I saw them not long ago. And this was 1972/73 I did this. I can't believe I saved them to this day.As as a kid, with no money for recording gear, I had dismantled a headphone to use it as microphone. And then I would record on a small mono tape recorder, and placed a bit of cardbox over the eraser head to record over previously recorded takes
The bundle deal will be available on Rhino.com just like last time (with everything shipping together!) No idea if what the UK Dig! store will take.
1 Warner (Bros.)
1 Reprise
2 Atlantic
Carry on...
Which is good because it keeps our (current) expectation in check, while it gives us something great to look forward to in the near future (I think), a next batch.Well that rules out Joni, Carly and Jackson.....
So to refine my previous guesses....
The singer/songwriter will come from Reprise and will therefore be Gordon Lightfoot or Randy Newman.
The soft rock will come from Warner Brothers and will therefore be Seals & Crofts.
The Atlantic titles will be the jazz & r&b. Duke Ellington & The Spinners.
Sundown was a top charting album and single. Mobile Fidelity considered it "audiophile" enough that they issued it on their 1/2 speed mastered series. I'm in agreement there, but I do like both Randy Newman albums equality as I do the Lightfoot which is the peak commercial album of his entire career. They have to have one strong album leading the next group of four out of the possibilities discussed Im betting its Sundown.
I also want the Newman albums soon too, but I'm not worried if they are not included in the next batch, they will get released eventually, and we need both of them not just one.Knowing that one is from Reprise really narrows that one down. So that only leaves two Gordon Lightfoot albums, two Randy Newman albums, an Arlo Guthrie album and a Maria Muldaur album. (I really want the Newman albums!).
Spinners first seems logical. AWB really IS a stunning quad mix...but so many calling for Spinners, they can't be denied. AWB said to be a stunning quad mix?
The soft rock could be James Taylor (who would also fit into that singer/ Songwriter category.)Well that rules out Joni, Carly and Jackson.....
