That is an understated reason why all titles are selling decent in this recent series. It made sense to grab one or grab them all - unless finances did not permit. Had they been $30 or $35 each I'm pretty sure we'd have seen many folks grabbing their two faves and passing on the other two.I saw they had a 4 pack of quadio releases for a good price.
Mine arrived today in rural Oz via Australia Post, two packages. Both sent from Vista, CA (ordered 23rd; mailed 28th.), so 16 days to get here (which is usual for overseas stuff sent to me).My package of the other 3 (sans Paranoid) arrived today in Australia...
It's quite amazing how a multi-channel mix can resolve an album that is hard to get into. I had that with the Quad mix of Bitches Brew, suddenly the congestion cleared and it made sense. Also the 5.1 of Young Americans, an album I felt unsure of. (Doesn't always work, tried to like Heavy Horses, but still didn't)Loving the clarity of Paranoid - who ever thought Sabbath would sound better when the murk was lifted?! Haha. Subtle parts like tamborines have never been obvious to me before.
BdollarB is a great adventurous mix. I've always been slightly on the fence with this album, but the quad really does work with the Alice insanity!
J Geils is new to me, and the fidelity is perhaps not as great as the previous two, but the album itself is great. Tempted to explore more of their output.
Red Octopus.... not my thing at all. That's remained sealed and may or may not already be on a famous auction site, haha.
Yep, Foraging Rhino announced that on Tuesday (post 2816).Great news everybody!
I had mentioned these discs to a coworker who is a old school hard rock/metal fan and mentioned that I'd have to bring in Paranoid for him because it was sold out - but it looks like they must have pressed more because both Paranoid and the bundle are showing as in stock again.
Metal Gear Solid enemy.Nice name for a band.... Paranoid Red Octopus.
Get an early CD pressing for the stereo version, one of the 1986 or 1987 issues. Much better than the later releases that got added compression.(the stereo version of Paranoid) - I discovered I have 2 copies of the stereo version (2003 CD, 2009 deluxe CD/DVD) and now the 2023 Blu-ray, anyone compared these versions (I don't have any way to do an A/B listening test) to see if there's much, if any, audible difference?

Good multichannel and good cannabis genuinely open up an album. Old, aggressive quad mixes especially since they were made for four equal channels, there didn't have to be a "front".It's quite amazing how a multi-channel mix can resolve an album that is hard to get into.
