Thought I'd just mention I was 'watching' the SNL 50th thing last night on NBC( actually only fast forwarding thru it while being buffered) for the musical performances.
I heard McCartney was going to be there so I wanted to see that. I figured it would be some sort of an acoustic set......
Well it turned out he was the very last performer & had his full group with him.
Surprisingly, he did the last section of the Abbey Road lp side 2 suite. Golden Slumbers, Carry That Weight & The End... They were all done live, with no lip sync, no auto-tune, etc... There was even a brass section there!
Wow, what a great performance!....brought goosebumps and tears to my eyes....😅
Did any one else see this & what did you think?

PS. Imho , for me this was the highlight of the show that was mostly garbage😫
I agree.their where a few laughs but paul was fantastic.I stopped laughing at most of the show 25 years ago

I'm starting to figure out (ha-ha) that there are actually two separate SNL shows?

A 50th Anniversary special, which I saw, about 3 hours long. Also, I have the "Ladies & Gentlemen... 50 Years of SNL Music"
recorded to watch later; (BTW - how long is that one?)

One thing that irritated me on the regular show was that recording it on my AT&T U-verse it ended at about the time (~3 hours) when Tom Hanks came out and did a tribute to... IDK fall gags or something; so then we missed whatever was after that, therefore we assume the show ran long. But... I also seem to remember I recorded the second offering of the show after the first one, which ran ~16 minutes into the second one- so messed up! So not really sure what happened; however I can get on my Apple TV 4k and check it out on the 🦚 network- Lord have mercy 🤦‍♂️

I did enjoy seeing Brittany Howard's great performance, both singing and playing the guitar. Also, I always feel Maya Rudolph is a total pro and makes her spots look effortless, including any singing (must get some of that from her mom Minnie.)

I watched both of the ones you mentioned and thought they were great. I enjoyed every moment of both. I have gone back to watch some of the full episodes of the shows, starting with the ones I don't remember the band, and I really like the band. Two shows were the one with The Rolling Stones doing 3 songs in a row promoting the Some Girls album, and the episode with The Sugarcubes. I didn't remember either performance from back in the day, and I have seen most episodes.
