In our February 2022 release, original cast recordings of musicals from Broadway’s golden age nestle alongside the music of Ives, Wagner, Holst, and Britten, in timeless performances conducted by Eugene Ormandy, Pierre Boulez, and Leonard Bernstein. Additionally, flute virtuoso James Galway is making his first appearance on Dutton Epoch, with a pair of superb albums featuring the National Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Charles Gerhardt. Recorded during the quadraphonic era of the 1970s, these classic albums are presented here in the stereo/multi-channel SACD format.

Six, one of them being a double album (LEONARD BERNSTEIN • TROUBLE IN TAHITI & CANDIDE • Original Cast Recordings).

I see that No No Nanette has this fine print in the description:

"Note: this reissue features the original stereo-quadraphonic compatible SQ mix, and the original discrete quadraphonic mix, as made by Columbia Records’ engineers in 1971"

So that means we also get to hear the SQ mix via the Surround Master (or your other SQ decoder of choice.) Very nice.

Not his greatest work I'd suggest. In fact I've always found it rather tedious. I only bought the DV set for Candide which is much more fun.

Ordered all six. Also ordered The Mountebanks from an earlier batch of their own recordings on SACD; I keep hearing good things about it. Made it an even 8 with a disc from their February classical sale - there's a lot there at great prices. The composers aren't as well known but many are excellent.

Special note on the Wagner disc - it looks like Dutton got things exactly right. Two full albums wouldn't quite fit on a SACD, so they put the least popular side (The Love Feast of the Apostles) on SACD stereo/quad only - https://www.duttonvocalion.co.uk/proddetail.php?prod=CDLX7392.

Let the floodgates open! Very excited for the Candide and the Ives. And Boulez-Conducts-Anything is bound to have a great mix. I don't really need yet another Planets but I'll take Bernstein's. And I don't particularly enjoy the flute, but the Galway album is a Michael Dutton mix of material never before released in quad, so...that makes 5. Now I just have to come up with a sixth, in observance of the GOS shipping rule.

But humprof, how could you possibly say NO to NO, No Nanette with Patsy Kelly and Ruby Keeler?

And the 2 James Galway discs are conducted by the great Charles Gerhardt who bought us those spectacular RCA film series in luscious QUAD!

To support the cause and Michael Dutton's absolute dedication to excellence, I ordered all six titles plus added a few sale discs and specified priority s/h.

I know a lot of QQ posters are disappointed this latest batch didn't include any Rock, Pop nor Jazz 'goodies' but what he did release from the RCA Red Seal and Columbia Masterworks QUAD/STEREO catalogue not to mention the bonus material [in QUAD, no less] represents a wonderful cross section from the early QUADRAPHONIC era.

Once this pandemic ends and things get back to normal, Michael will no doubt canvas the RCA/COLUMBIA and even UNIVERSAL QUAD pop/rock/jazz catalogues to titillate QQ Forum's IN CROWD with more contemporary fare.

And with NO price increases, Dutton Vocalion continues to release, IMO, an amazing assortment of music across ALL genres in stunning state of the art sonics!

Why not add Lenny Bernstein's THE PLANETS...considered in its day to be a sonic spectacular. The original SONY Multi~CH SACD was an abomination and I understand the original Columbia QUAD masters contained a lot more discrete info. If I'm incorrect by those who've heard the SQ Vinyl properly decoded...then correct me.
