sooooooo...
4 track stereo is NOT quadraphonic.... this is what I'm trying to drill down to.
Four track stereo is stereo. Best way to tell is simply how many sides the 4 track tape has. Two sides means stereo. One side means quad.sooooooo...

I was looking for that diagram but couldn't find it. Thanks. The half track stereo in the diagram is what I always suspected were the King Biscuit Flower Hour programs, probably recorded that way because back then many radio stations still utilized half track machines. Simply a compatibility issue. You can play 2 track tapes on a 4 track deck but you can't play a 4 track tape on a 2 track machine. So these KBFH tapes would play at the station no matter what deck they were using. I'm sure you know all this Pupster but wanted to get this out for those who may not.
That's a good question; I'm not a network guy, but just thinking off the top of my head, could it be that you're using a cross-over cable instead of a straight through cable.I have a little question maybe this thread would be good?
I download music from sites, I use three of them HDTracks, Acoustic Sounds and Native DSD. My PC is Ethernet connected to the network and the download speed is fast but almost all the time approx 3-4 tracks of an album fail. I go into my file folder, because you have to delete the failed tracks and try again, usually the same failed download happens again, but.........when I pull the Ethernet and retry via wireless always works.
It's obviously not a big problem, just weird, and I don't know the logical answer.
I have the blue Ethernet cable going from my PC to an Ethernet switch box. It works really well and fast when I move files between hard drives etc, just that one situation it seems to be a little quirky.That's a good question; I'm not a network guy, but just thinking off the top of my head, could it be that you're using a cross-over cable instead of a straight through cable.
I know there' some network savvy folks that can help with this like @DuncanS.

As your set-up works well when it doesn't use the internet I suspect it is down to 'speed', but I can't prove it (might be complete B...….!). In that an Ethernet cable link is faster than Wi-Fi (assuming 100Mb/s on Ethernet 54Mb/s on Wi-Fi) and the time between the data packets is usually slower on Wi-Fi (a different protocol) also often more errors on Wi-Fi which adds in data retries and thus slows the internet connection down to the website. So I think you are seeing over-run/under-run errors via Ethernet-to-Internet, so either too much data requested too soon for the host website to download, or not enough arriving in time at your PC in time. I have had similar issues.I have the blue Ethernet cable going from my PC to an Ethernet switch box. I think that is it as you say, too much data requested too soon, because I have an optic fiber connection all the good modem, etc and when I do anything it works super good and fast, so it must mean the host website doesn't give as fast as I can take it, at least that is a viable answer and I think I'll go with that. If I download say 3 albums vs ethernet and 6 songs fail, and I disconnect and go to wifi it is still faster than all wifi.As your set-up works well when it doesn't use the internet I suspect it is down to 'speed', but I can't prove it (might be complete B...….!). Well put (explained);It's basically like a 4 lane highway. Two lanes north and two lanes south would be stereo. Four lanes all going north would be quad.
Welcome to the QQ forum Jay P.Well put (explained);
I have a similar 'issue' with googleDrive. If you request multiple files to download it doesn't always get them all, if you try to zip before downloading it takes literally hours, yet if you download one at a time its quick and error free. I think its all down to the amount of compute/bandwidth for the download stream given on the link, i.e. its not that great - so single file downloads work the best.OK, so literally just in the last several days, I have had a related problem. I use a cloud to store many of my music flac files. They are stored just like they are stored on my NAS. I'll have a folder, which is named like this:
Billy Joel - 52'nd Street (SACD MCH)
Then within the folder and the 7-8 songs, etc. STraight forward.
If I simply highlight the folder, and click download. Off it goes. Though, it zips the folder and contents first...which takes time. Then, it actually downloads the zipped file to my download folder.
Only, about 75% of the time, only 1 or 2 songs actually downloaded.
That said, if I do it differently....say open the folder, click all 7-8 songs and download just the songs (not the folder), they all seem to download.
So, what up with that?
Still in South America.
