I was on another thread and this song was mentioned as a Beach Boys song and I didn't recognize it...but after hearing it I remembered the song but for some reason I thought some other band did this song...from the Holland album...

Sail on sailor....Brian still does it in concert, at least he did on lucky old sun tour. That and Marcella were stand outs.

This song seems to be an enigma to a lot of people. I compiled a disk of "sailing/ocean voyage/boat" tunes for use on my boat last year. This song made the disk but I had to search for it without knowing who actually performed it. I knew the song from its radio airplay but I never owned it. I was flabbergasted to find out it was by the Beach Boys and so was everyone I played it for.

whoa...haven't heard this in like 40 years! always loved it tho

I've got an old Dr Hook DVD. Its very entertaining. The band is filmed on a stage with no audience. They apparently had consumed copious amounts of alcohol and illegal smoking substances (well...no longer illegal in CO, WA, AK, and now apparently Washington DC, THE NATIONS CAPITAL!!!! are you kidding?). They do sound pretty good though. They introduce "Sylvias Mother" as one they feel has been played too much, and shouldn't be played any more. I don't even think they actually even finished it. The performance of "Cover of the Rolling Stone" is hoot. "Hey Ray, Hey Sugar, tell em who we are..."

Sail On Sailor, one of seven 5.1 audio-only mixes included on the Endless Harmony (VH-! documentary) DVD-V movie: Bonus 5.1 Dolby Digital Audio Mixes: California Girls, Kiss Me Baby, God Only Knows, Surf's Up, Long Promised Road, Sail On Sailor, Do It Again.

If you ever liked these guys, YOU NEED THIS!!

I purchase this DVD when it first came out, watched it once and haven't played it since. At that time, I was still two-channel based only. I need to dig it out and hear it in surround now. :)
