Yeah, Crow was a great band along with The Litter, also from Minneapolis. Both just really good and didn't make it as big as they should have.

I remember seeing Crow at The Tower in Austin (where all the bands wanted to play when coming to town) when they were still South 40 just before changing names.

Doug

Did you see Crow in their prime, or older? Trying to figure out how old you are...lol

Oh boy.....I bet. Looking forward to it.

After listening to all 3 new releases(Bread..Grover..Guess Who)I can say they are all worth a purchase...it will be up to the individual to determine where they rank in the grand scheme of things..I will say that those that never bought Winelight are getting a bargain...I paid $63 for my DVD-A in 2013 ..which was used and in very good condition..

I'm pretty sure I'll get Grover...I don't have it. It's not hot on my radar, but I do like the music. I've been spending like a crazy man....

I just listened to this in mp3 :( : front.jpg

Be prepared for something beautiful :) I can't wait to listen to the surround version, beautiful album.

For those non believers in the musical prowess of Black Sabbath....just check out this tune from SABBATH BLOODY SABBATH.

Looking For Today

Excellent example of diverse musical passages, instrumentation, etc. All under the label of Metal/Rock. Duh....
Such an excellent song, even has some FLUTE going on. Who would have thought? Even some nice radio friendly HOOKS...

LYRICS (and video below)

It's complete but obsolete
All tomorrow's become yesterday
In demand but second-hand
It's been heard before you even play

Up to date but came too late
Better get yourself another name
You're so right but overnight
You're the one who has to take the blame

Everyone just gets on top of you
The pain begins to eat your pride
You can't believe in anything you knew
When was the last time that you cried

Don't delay you're in today
But tomorrow is another dream
Sunday's star is Monday's scar
Out of date before you're even seen
At the top so quick to flop
You're so new but rotting in decay
Like butterfly so quick to die
But you're only looking for today

Everyone just gets on top of you
The pain begins to eat your pride
You can't believe in anything you knew
When was the last time that you cried
Looking for today

Glamour trip so soon to slip
Easy come but oh how quick it goes
Ten foot tall but what to fall
Hard to open yet so easy to close
Front page news but so abused
You just want to hide yourself away
Over-paid, but soon you fade
Because you're only looking for today
Looking for today

They changed from South 40 to Crow in 1969, I think so that should give you some idea.

I did see them a couple more times at the Tower as Crow but when they got bigger, they didn't come to Austin anymore.

Here's another clue (for you all :D), I was 14 when Sgt. Pepper's was released.

Did you guys know Golden Earring has been a band since 1961? And that the four current members have been in the band since 1970, at the latest, with two of them being founding members? So, the current line-up is the same as during "Radar Love".

I have always liked their sound.

Oh, and on "Radar Love", the guitar parts in between the vocal parts come from the right back just a sure as shootin' through my Sony SQD-2050. I think what happens in situations like that is, if the part is an overdub, the phase may not match the original track and the decoder sends it to other channels.

Always liked Golden Earring! I think "Moontan" would be an excellent choice for 5.1, with all the ambient background sounds in "Vanilla Queen" and "Candy's Going Bad". "Big Tree, Blue Sea" is an awesome jam song. I wore this album out, back in the day. "Twilight Zone" was a great come back song for them.

"Radar Love" was quite the talk-of-the-town when it came out in '73. Just so different from most of the other stuff out then. The drum solo would be terrific in surround along with what you mentioned. The whole album is really good.

I have tried to spin the record fast when she says, "Well, in simple English I'm..." and then it slows way down but I don't think it's actually English. Is it Dutch? :D

I have "Switch" too and although it's not as consistent as "Moontan", it has some good stuff on it.

Listening to Full Moon Fever by Tom Petty. Just read the liner notes. 7 of the 12 songs are written by Tom Petty & Jeff Lynne. Those 2 have really made a great professional relationship....from the Travelling Wilburys, to some solo stuff where they collaborate.

One of my all-time favourite albums. Heaven is an Elliot Scheiner (or Bob Clearmountain, or Steven Wilson) 5.1 mix of FMF.

As I listen to some Beatles music...the double album I call the "blue" album...The Beatles/1967-1970(SHM-CD)..I was drifting back in time and I employed my time machine(the internet)to bring back a memory of a magazine cover from the 70's...just looking at the topics on the cover it takes me back to a time when many of the musical greats were still among us and in their prime..the time is December 1974..and for the price of 85 cents you could "read all about it"...HERE it was a time when the term "head shop" was not some porn reference but a place one could buy some "papers" or perhaps a bong to enjoy their favorite vertical crop...this magazine gave credence to the punk rock movement and at it's peak was the definitive source of music information...I wonder how many remember this classic magazine..those around the Midwest probably do..especially in the Detroit area...

Absolutely! I used to subscribe.
