Huh. You mean like, even though a title is totally exclusive, they only have a short window of time to "display" the fact that they had it for sale?
Absolutely! They don't own the rights to the material. It is negotiated before it's ever announced for sale.

The irony is....I have worked in a career where licensing is what we do. (agriculture) Guess I never tried to apply what I know to the music bizz.
We deal with full exclusivity, semi-exclusivity, semi-exclusivity by time, etc. Exclusivity by region, etc.

It's very indicative in the movie and music business which is what my career was. Streaming services are a perfect example. Why are movies or shows only on there for a specified amount of time? Because the owner(s) of the show cut a financial deal with the service. Once the deal was over, the show gets pulled and possible moves on to another platform. It's all about money.

Somehow, I can't imagine that licensing is relevant for a store? Particularly since the SDE articles about the releases are still available.

Also, the Crowded House link is the first one I noticed completely disappearing... and now that one is back.

It's even more relevant for a small company. Same with smaller audiophile labels like MoFi, AP, AF, DCC, etc. Small runs of product. It's been going on for decades. DVD, Blu-rays, too. The old adage: "Buy Now Or Pay Later".

But it may still be listed at the streamer as simply "unavailable," similar to being listed as "sold out" at a store. Limited-time licenses don't usually specify delisting.

If you're concerned, email them, call them or chat with them if you want a straight answer. What more can I say...

If the blu-ray has a specific time (2 weeks) then it will be sold out. If it’s a run of say 2,000 then it will be on sale until the 2,000 are sold, anything still on sale hasn’t sold as well as they’d hoped

I have now found out from ripping just to show you what a nightmare this is for the ripping person.
Between Atmos, 5.1, and stereo there are 177 tracks that spread out over the disc.
And @Albert Dagger I totally agree with you, probably my biggest drag is many versions of same song.
I have been trained to listen as a whole album person, but a release like this I just can't. This has to be done over months, and some in the car, some on the home rig. And many just one time.
The value is fantastic, but it is overload, just cuz you can doesn't necessarily mean you should.
Also, 177 song versions, none live. Maybe they never played live?
On a positive note, I am not a Gay person, this release of course has many lyrics from a Gay person's point of view. I find them all lovely and well put together. Part of me dreads listening to all and part of me just wants to listen to all.
It is a great find, that leans on overload.
Wow, that falsetto! I put a football jersey on, now I'm "safe" lol...works for me....crank it up (y)

We've had a comparatively huge sampling of synth-pop from SDE, but I'd like to see some love for post-punk/new wave/goth bands. Modern English, The Cure, Sisters Of Mercy, New Order, Siouxie and the Banshees, Icehouse, Magazine, Peter Murphy, The Fixx, Thompson Twins, etc., etc., etc. Depeche Mode in Atmos? Take my money! It's not like there isn't plenty of gloomy stuff to choose from. ;)
Icehouse seemed like a good choice for SDE to me but then I just looked them up and see they barely had any success at all in the UK. Too bad as I’d love to hear surround mixes of Measure to Measure and Man Of Colours. Two of my favorite albums from the 80s
