Terrific set. I've listened only to III and X so far and they sound great. Although, on III particularly, I found it helpful to reduce volume of the rears a bit for better balance. The wee little LP sleeve/insert replicas are very well done.

I agree Philip. This box is astonishing. I just perused over at "another forum" and they are going on and on nit-picking the mastering and pointing out an imperfection here and there, and GIVE ME A FUCKING BREAK!!! Those people cannot just enjoy music, it makes me CRAZY. I don't know what else to say. This box is AWESOME in my book

:nuke :nuke :nuke :nuke :nuke

I gave up on that forum because there are too many bat shit crazy people over there. This forum is much more sane.

This forum has been overmoderated for months now. Trying to compete with that other one. Of course you know these last two posts will be deleted any second now.

No one will delete your post Frank. What are you talking about anyway? The moderators here clearly moderate with moderation.

Jon, while I agree that the other forum can certainly be mind-boggling in its negativity, the potential stereo glitch on CTA would certainly qualify as a real issue. I bought the set for both the quads & the high-res stereo. Would definitely want to get a corrected CTA if it is messed up. I haven't spun the stereo yet, so will need to see for myself. The other "issues" I've seen over there fall in the NON category for me based on what I've heard so far...

The stereo glitch is one thing, the rest of the stuff...........well, as you said, NON-catagory. Of course, this is just my feelings. If anyone here doesn't like the box you are free to trash it if you like. To me it's great.

No it hasn't...of all the forums I have ever been on this one is the most tolerant and understanding...and some people take advantage of this laid back attitude...

I hope this negative crap doesn't spread to this forum...it drives me crazy...some people aren't happy unless they can find something to bitch about...

Sometimes the people who complain about the complainers can be just as annoying as the complainers themselves.
The only complaint I have about this Chicago set is that it won't get here quick enough!
;)

I hang out on a dozen forums and this one is the least moderated of all of them. Jon does a fantastic job.

Got this an hour ago

I'm pretty sure this thread was 24 or 25 pages long yesterday.

I'm one who's in the brouhaha over at the other forum. The main objector I find there is taking it a bit over the top, as it were, making everything great about this set seem rather meaningless and the mastering the only important thing.

I've voiced my issues already and feel no need to belabor them. What cheezes me are the people who want to buy the set but look for any reason not to and glom on to whoever goes most neg. yuk.

Boy I am so glad I ordered this last Friday. Got a great price from Amazon CA. I am not that into Chicago after the first few albums but those have memories for me. At this price it's worth getting them all and quad has a way of making you appreciate music you ignored in stereo.....

That's because half of the posts had zip to do with the topic. What forum moderators want is when a potential new member does a search on Chicago Quadio, they find relevant information. Not a bunch of non related bullshit.

Thanks. An honest mistake was made by me in splitting the off topic posts into a new thread today; it could not handle that many posts. What remains is on topic. My apologies to all.

Since you are so interested and disturbed about it I will tell you what happened. One of our moderators attempted to split out of this thread all of the bullshit that had nothing to do with the Chicago Quadio 9 Disc Box Set. In doing so he exceeded the memory limitation of the server and the thread that he was creating to put them all in was accidentally removed, as vB software sometimes does.

What occurred was an attempt to clean things up and there was an error. If I or the mods have to explain to the membership anytime anything goes wrong then I am closing this place down. If anyone does not think the place is run properly you are free to get your money back (oh wait) or just leave.

Anyone who feels over-moderated can leave as well. We get a great release like this box and all that happens is people bitch and moan. It makes me SICK.

Stuff over there does give me something to read and smile over while I'm sitting here enjoying the awesome quad, though!

FUCKING SICK

So now that the thread is cleaned up, is there any mention of what the issue is with the stereo track for album II? I am not sure why my post was selected for this other thread, but anyway it was, it is, and it's gone.

Re: Chicago II, side two album material

Ok cool

The stereo mix of Side II of Chicago II is apparently in mono. I haven't checked it out yet myself. I'm too busy with the quad. :)
