Does anybody know whether these DVD-As announced for the UK will be available in the US? I can't find any US retailer listing these yet.

I cannot imagine them not being available in the US.
Still - that will be a first, won't it!
Seriously though, the USA is going to be a much bigger market, and even EMI will be aware of this. Who distributes EMI in the USA?

Generally Capitol; EMI also cut a well-publicized deal with DTS in 2003 for surround audio product for which we're still waiting on any actual releases to appear...

I'm pretty close to placing my order from amazon.co.uk since I can't find ordering info from a US store. Anyone else have luck with that?

This is great news.

The new issue of ICE features a full page color ad and contest based around the release of these live albums, yet there is no mention of DVD-A or 5.1 surround. Elsewhere in the issue, ICE says DVD-A versions same day.

"Young Americans" would be great in DVD-Audio! Does anyone think it might sound better than the SACD of Ziggy Stardust, not that I still didn't like it---but sonically there was room for improvement.

I loathe the SACD of Ziggy. The mix is dreadful, it really is. It sounds to me like it was knocked out in an afternoon just for a quick buck.
Perhaps, reading between the lines on Tony Visconti's website, now that EMI control the back catalogue again and there has been some sort of deal with DTS entertainment, we will see a decent MC mix of Ziggy on DVD-A.
And given Bowie's prolific video output, the issue of DVD-A titles with DVD-V compatibility, so-called "Hybrid" or "Universal" DVD-A, then his material is just so much better suited to DVD-A than SACD.

DVD-A dead?
No way. It is just beginning really. Now that there are entry level DVD-A authoring tools so widely available it is no surprise to me that there looks to be a healthy future - albeit a niche market - for DVD-A.
EMI and Universal are still firmly behind DVD-A, and as for DualDisc - the sooner Sony stop dragging it all down with their stubborn refusal to incorporate a DVD-A side the better.
Bowie on DVD-A is a real boon.

I can not wait.... I spent the last month searching for the release... I am not happy about April instead of 3-15..... but I hope it is worth the wait......

I personally have a preference to dvd audio....... I like the fact that you can see the resolution playing and switch back and forth between 2 and multi....

and so far I have the rem's, beck, and zappa on dvd audio and the only good sacd's I have are EC North and SD Gaucho.;;;;;;;; the rest bowie Let Dance, and Scary and the police have been less than jawdropping....

Any updates on these?

If I understand correctly, neither the US or Canada got it---though Canada was at least able to preorder at one time. Did Europe get it yet? Anybody?

I really want to hear "Stage" in 5.1 surround.

I have asked for an update recently, but no info since they said there were 'Production difficulties" a month or two ago...

It looks as if 101CD.com are quoting delivery dates....3 to 5 days.
Amazon UK say release was July 4 for Stage.
David Live is back to August 1.

Any news from anywhere else?

I've had them both on order since January.
What is the problem with these?
I think I'm off to Bowienet to try & find out.
It is appalling.

I want to say that someone suggested in a different thread that perhaps this was partially caused by an authoring issue? I can imagine that they maybe didn't like the first try if it was authored like the Simple Minds NGD and The Thrills discs---also from the Signature Series. On those two discs, it seems there is a silent pause between each song caused by the disc needing to access some sort of master tracklist or whatever. (Is that considered an authoring issue?) Anyway... havine a silent pause between tracks would sure seem inappropriate for a live release.

If it is an authoring issue, how long does it usually take to fix?

Also, I haven't yet preordered either of these; but I definitely plan to buy "Stage" and probably "Live", too, when they are released. But, I wonder, do record companies ever look at the total number of preorders before making a decision to move ahead with a release?

A silent pause between tracks is caused by one of 2 things every time:
1/. Not using a gapless option in the Authoring software. A common mistake.
2/. Dodgy firmware implementation in the DVD-A player. WinDVD 6 is guilty of this - try playing a live DVD-A such as Zeppelin's "How the West was won" and notice the glitch at every track point. This is a lot harder to fix as it is player dependant.
