I see where Amazon UK still has these listed as coming out on November 14th. I wonder if it'll really happen this time? Has anyone received word that theirs has shipped?

And this next question is almost definitely premature, but...

Does anyone know if the video will be PAL or NTSC? I don't seen any US websites offering the albums for preorder, anymore. So I'm guessing that we're not getting a US release---at least not this particular week---assuming that the UK release indeed comes out on the 14th.

I'd love to get Stage on DVD-A, so I'm hoping its NTSC. Or better yet, I hope these see release in the States and/or Canada shortly.

Well both "Live" and "Stage" are indeed listed on amazon.co.uk for tomorrow. Have ordered and will let you know......

Howard

Got a message from 101cd.com on Friday saying that my copy of Stage on DVD-Audio has shipped. Should arrive tomorrow (fingers crossed).

David Live has yet to ship.

Yes they exist - and here are 2 in my hand in Virgin Megastore this lunchtime in London (extortionate price of £19.99 each). On order from Amazon at £12.99 and £14.99 ....at least they exist and here is the picture taken with phone cam...

Howard - happy as can be....@:

Stage has now arrived (from 101CD.Com). David Live has been dispatched from the same source.

Stage sounds brilliant in 5.1.

This new version is interesting as it's not a "crowd at the back" surround mix, instead instruments are panning all over the place, it's a very dynamic mix.

I think that the DVD-Audio is only 48 / 24, but it sounds good to me. I was suprised at how good it sounded. It's more like a studio album than a live album, the liner notes mention that this was a criticism of the original release.

I have the vinyl version but must admit that I'm not too familiar with it, so unfortunately I can't really compare.

Overall I was very impressed with this disk on first listen.

I thought I had read somewhere that some versions of Stage had much of the audience noise taken out, but that some versions kept it intact? I wonder if that's true or if I'm just mis-remembering? If it's true, I could see how that possibly might have resulted in there being a bit of a criticism of it souning more like a studio album.

I'm glad that initial impressions are good! I am a little bit worried about it maybe not sounding like a "live" surround mix; but so long as it still sounds good I'm happy.

I'll have to get these in January when they come out for Canada (and hopefully the US). In the meantime, I look at the photo and I'm jealous.

So Amazon still don't have stock yet.
As for the Region 2 thing, this is a balls up at 101CD.com - who incidentally having had my order for these discs since January wrote to me 3 weeks ago telling me that there was now a delivery date, but they were cancelling my order as they could not honuor the price quoted when I ordered them.
*******s.
Why not simply give me an option to accept or refuse?
instead I got cancelled.
Hello Amazon - now, where are my discs?

As for Virgin Megastore, blame Gordon Brown for the VAT - 17.5% really ramps up the price. £14.99 plus VAT = £17.61. Still dear, but when ordering from Play.com or Amazon, their suppliers are in Jersey which has a zero VAT situation yet is still in the UK postal area.
Now see how much HMV are asking!!

As soon as Amazon get around to delivering them, I'll be happy to let you all know.
Been waiting for these for months now....

Hi Neil

I cancelled my Amazon order and went to 101cd.com (as one reader mentioned them above). They were ordered last night and despatched today for £11.99 - great stuff!

Mind you play.com were £10 cheaper for the Dr Who New Series DVD Box set coming out next week (in 5.1 sound by the way!!)...

H

I'll have a dig around on my collection and let you know - though as most us are multi-region I'll have to try on my PC (which has DVD-A) and lock the region to 2 to see what refuses to play....

I did the same - I even called 101CD to make sure they had stock.
Was told "Yes, we have stock and a lot of orders".
So I reordered from 101 and cancelled at Amazon.
Still no confirmation - quoting 4 to 10 days now.

What is worse of all is my original order in January at 101CD.com was cancelled by them, as "Title no longer available at the price we quoted".
No option to accept a new price, just cancelled my order.

Still.
Here's hoping they will arrive soon.

this is the one they cancelled on me.

Oh well.

Took 3 days from order via 101cd.com - free postage so not complaining. Noticed it had gone through Customs (from Jersey!).

Play a few track tonight - swept away I can say. The mixes on both are not the usual boring auidence at the rear and everything else up front - lots of rear action.

The sound quality, compared to my old CDs is fantastic too. I was there on the UK legs of both tours - how old am I!

It states NTSC on the rear - but there are no movies on the disc - just photos and stuff. Also a DTS 5.1 mix for those without DVD-A.

Happy bunny!

Interestingly, I had an order that I placed a couple of days ago with Amazon UK for both DVD-As---but I just got an email stating that they cancelled my "David Live" since it was unavailable. (n)

"Stage" was still good to go, supposedly, at 4 to 6 weeks. So I decided to place an order elsewhere---but just for "Stage" since the price was rather astronomical. And "Stage" is the one that I've been pining for. So... If that goes through I'll cancel the "Stage" portion of the Amazon order since it doesn't look very promising. I'll just wait and get "David Live" once it is formally released in Canada (or better yet, the US).

I had read over at SH forums that the discs had NTSC and Region "0" written on the labels, so I'm hopeful the disc will play for me---assuming it ships. (Seeing Bayard's post stating the same thing seems promising.) (y) But if it ends up not playing properly, afterall, it's no big deal. It'll still look cool on the rack!

Anybody find these in-store in the US??? I even checked FRY, which has a big selection of both DVD-A and SACD and they don't have it. As a last resort, I would even take a US online source. Amazon doesn't seem to stock them (or at least I couldn't find them). Thanks
