Not to be a wet blanket, but holy deja vu Batman! Suddenly I am thrown back to the early 70s, when there was so much quadraphonic elevator music in the record store LP stacks to avoid.

Oh jeez....
I'm gonna have to get some of these...I hadn't taken the NesTea plunge yet...![]()
Mixwise the Legrand and the Montenegro are the best of these 4 SACDs by quite some margin I would say.. and they sound fabulous.
I've never been terribly enamoured of Chinatown as an album or Quad mix, or the sound quality for that matter, just seemed kinda lacking all round and it's only marginally improved here to be honest.. thankfully the Romeo & Juliet Quad is a delight and sounds pristine. Some here won't enjoy some of the mixing decisions, like drums in the rear right only but for lovers of ultra discrete mixes ( like me) I'm a v. Happy bunny.
Of the Conniff Quads, Love Will Keep Us Togeher is a better mix than Laughter In The Rain imho but they both sound superb on the new SACD. I won't be bothering with the SQ LPs of either of these Conniff albums again, they're absolutely trounced in every way by the SACD, sound quality is wonderful and of course they're discrete. Hooray! :wave
OK, thanks for the specifics Adam. I mean, it's not like I'll listen to this stuff often, I think I just want to dabble and say I own some of this while available. I mean heck, my kids will inherit all my physical discs (and I'm getting a lot), so it's more of an investment I suppose.
Dominate the.. what? What do you mean?
I buy new stuff, I post at QQ about buying new stuff as the QQ thread indicates.. I can only post in the areas of QQ that I have anything to post about at the time. When I'm listening to surround I post about that in the relevant QQ thread, etc, etc.
You have me on block already, please do continue to ignore me, I'm not wounded you have chosen to do so, or why, just seems rather unfortunate you felt the need to broadcast it.. feels off hand and personal when someone posts along the lines of; "I'm taking you off block to tell you that you get on my tits".
Ho hum.. anyway, back to this thread, the Stevie Wonder Hugo Quad on the new SACD is sensational guys & gals, I'm hearing little things popping up all over the place for the first time, layers in the channels I never heard tinkering around with the CD-4 record that's for sure! Bravo DV! Encore!![]()
I'll probably just get 2 or 3 of these titles, probably comes down to the actual songs on the discs I guess.
I really enjoy all your posts, Adam... please keep them coming! (including the puns)
Do you mean you're eyeing up 2 or 3 of the 4 that are out already (I think the Montenegro - Godfather/Spaghetti Western Quad SACD is now out too by the looks of it) or all those announced including the others still on pre-order?
gotta say, even though my tastes are more kinda soft Catholic (oh I dunno, something like that..) I'm toying with even getting the light Classical or whatever they are (Kostelanetz does Spain, et al) SACD surround titles that DV are also putting out.. I didn't pick any of these up on SQ LP over the last 18 months vinyl buying frenzy, they just didn't grab me somehow.. but tempting to get them now, seeing as they're a.) cheap & b.) discrete master tape quality Quad sound.. hmm.. tempting, tempting, very tempting! I'll try not to give myself a migraine over it, I'll probably just spontaneously (combust!) into ordering another slew of these babies come payday! Hooray!
man that Stevie Wonder Quad is out of this world..! Is that on your list, Gene Genie?![]()
I would gladly buy the Stevie Wonder'ish stuff. He's a gem. Curious about the spaghetti western stuff as I love that too.
+1 for fredblue's posts here (there, and everywhere) - no one brings as much positive energy to this site as Adam does and it wouldn't be the same without him, QQ's MVP in my opinion.
Looking forward to hearing these even more now based on Adam's reviews. I feel like every time an matrix-only quad release (like the Legrand album) gets modern discrete multi-channel release, an angel gets its wings!
It appears that Tower Of Power 'Ain't Nothin' Stoppin' Us Now' and Main Ingredient 'Euphrates River' are now in stock at D-V's website so they're presumably shipping now.
That leaves only the Miklos Rosza, Andre Kostelanetz, and Arthur Fiedler quad discs, and the Watership Down sountrack stereo disc before all the new SACDs are in stock.
