Holy crap! He was waaay too young!

Major Bummer; he was 65 (unbelievably) right, that's why I'm not fuckin' around when I say "Giddy Up" for releasing surround titles- time is not on our side!

He was a guitar genius & he had a patent to prove it:

That's pretty cool, and his patent sketch shows himself two hand tapping which was one of his signature techniques.

R.I.P. you Monster Player!

found this pic in the net...
biggest party I have ever been to (and I thought that The Who's gig at JFK Stadium was a party...erm...NO!) October 20th 1982 @ the Spectrum... saw kids smokin w, snortin C, and even screwin´in between seat rows!..and of course onstage they were downing Jack Daniels like nobody's bidness!!! Always wondered if that was an armband Eddie was wearing.. it was a cast...but no one would have noticed because a he played a PERFECT show! BTW, this was the MOST KILLER STAGE I HAVE EVER SEEN!!!!!
godspeed Edward...

One of the greatest and innovative guitarists of our generation. Still vividly remember where I was and what I was doing when I first heard their incredible debut in 1978. RIP Eddie!

To be honest, VH were one of the very few (1 or 2 or 3) bands that literally defined my coming of age later teen years. I cannot begin to tell you what it meant to me to be a young naive country boy, going to local parties at the age of 16/17 and hearing VH vinyl screaming on the TT (debut) and I am absolutely maxed out of my mind, yet very mindful of how their music.....and more importantly, his guitar totally moved me to a different mind set. Those memories are etched in my mind, never to be forgotten. To own a VH album back then, meant to be of the very coolest dudes around. They put out music that simply was not known (stylistically) at that time. It was mind-blowing, new, fresh and so "hard" at the time. Losing EVH sure feels like losing a part of my youth. Maybe more than most artists that have passed in my lifetime. Odd feeling. :(

I was 13 when 1984 came out and like all the guys in my clique I went wild for it. A chance find in 1991 in a used record store showed me Van Halen were better live. This boot was earlier stuff I didn't know but man it rocked. This isn't my copy, it got wore out and stolen long ago. Need a new copy as the mp3 I found sux the big one.
